Wow it is quiet on this thread. The 12-24 week thread is really busy so maybe as they start drifting over it will become more active.
If anyone's reading, I am getting so fed up of the pain caused by sitting at a desk all day! I realise it's a relatively small complaint, but my stretching or pelvic pain is really aggravated by sitting in an office chair. Anyone else having anything similar issues and have any good tips for minimising the discomfort? When I'm feeling really sorry for myself I wonder how I'm going to last in work until early December, but only around 11 weeks to go I suppose!
It's felt like ages since my last antenatal appointment, but I'm seeing my community midwife this week and then I've got the GTT next week, plus an extra scan at 28 weeks and whatever other appointments get booked in after this week. I'm sure I'll be nervous right before the scan, but for now I'm just excited at thought of seeing our baby again!
Hope everyone is well and 'blooming'!!0 -
Ah snowball poor you! I can relate, I was really struggling sat at a desk all day at work. My midwife put in for a physio referral but it was so close to me going on mat leave I never heard anything. If you've still got a while to go I would recommend seeing if you can be referred. Also seeing what work can do for you in terms of chair support etc.
Work were quite good at letting me work at home, and were happy for me to move around as much as I needed to although I did struggle with that as I felt like it looked like I was just slacking haha!
I'm definitely at the fed up/uncomfortable stage already! One month to go and I have permanent heartburn, my feet have gone massively swollen and my whole body has seized up so getting up off the sofa is a challenge in itself now haha! My friend who was due five weeks before me has just had her baby girl so I am even more keen to meet our little one now!0 -
Aw 1 month to go, how exciting!! And how lovely that you and your friends LOs will be so close in age
Have you finished work now?
To be fair HR have told me to take as many breaks from my desk as I need, it's just not always feasible if I'm working on a project. I'm definitely going to mention it to the midwife this week to see if she has any suggestions.
Heartburn has really kicked in this last few days as well, think I'll have to get something to help with that!0 -
Hello ladies, glad it has perked up a little on here.
I have 7 weeks to go, heartburn every night for me, bit annoying. And this time around I have sore hips and back a lot more. I've just walked to tesco with lo and it's wiped it out. Not cool. Can't see how I can get any bigger before the end I feel like a bus.
My work is the opposite it's physical so by the end of the day my hops and back are sore from walking so much. Think we all need to meet somewhere in the middle to be comfortable don't we hehe.Newly Married, not a 2b anymore!! Mum to two wonderful boys!0 -
Snow ball, could you try sitting on a birthing ball at your desk? It's the only thing I can sit on now, although I am three days overdue!
No sign of baby making an appearance yet either, so frustrating!0 -
Ah fingers crossed your little one makes an appearance soon wellyboots!
Gaviscon helped me up to now with heartburn but I've either become immune to it or its not strong enough as it's not helping anymore! Been reading up online on what I can do to ease it but so far the usual remedies aren't helping.
Snowball yes I finished last Wednesday - happy not to be confined to my desk and dealing with work stresses but on the other hand it was at least keeping my mind off the impending birth, now I don't have work to concentrate on time seems to have slowed down a lot!! Agree about trying the birthing ball at your desk - my work offered that to me but my birthing ball only helps me if I'm on all fours over it, I didn't think that would work haha!0 -
I've not been using my birthing ball too much, we're in the middle of overhauling our living room, so everything is shoved in the kitchen at the moment. Maybe if I start using that in the evenings, it will improve the discomfort during the day? And now I'm just picturing pregnant ladies on all fours over their balls, at their desks!! :rotfl: Cath_Ster, I can imagine, I'm hoping to finish about 3 weeks before I'm due because I don't want to be sat around for too long with too much time to think!
I only get sore hips occasionally and it's usually at night, I find myself having to shift a lot more. Mrshaworth I don't know how you manage it, I absolutely wouldn't be able to manage a physical job, shopping on a Saturday morning wipes me out for the rest of the day!
Wellyboots, I hope you're not waiting much longer!0 -
Snowball - I have been having similar struggles and have been referred to Physio. I also bought a support belt which helped a bit. How far along are you? The Physio told me that you get another dose of Relaxin at 27/28 weeks which sometimes helps. Also, my pain stems from one leg being shorter than the other so I have an insole in one of my shoes. My pain was starting to improve UNTIL...I had a car accident on Monday! Cue even more pain, everywhere else!
So yes, I am now 28+5. Spent the whole of Monday in hospital as I didn't feel the baby move for a while after the accident. Luckily everything is ok and she has been very active since. I have had to take the week off work as struggling with whiplash. I only had 3 weeks left at work, so when I go back next week I will only have 2 weeks. Bit of a pain, but at least I should then be able to chill for a few weeks.0 -
Oh no Bellola that must have been so scary for you, glad everything is ok!
I'm 25+3 and am going to speak to my midwife tomorrow in the hopes that she suggests something more than "watch your posture" like the last one didGenerally it is just discomfort (although turning over in bed can be so painful if I'm not careful!) but sometimes the pain is really intense during the day if I've done 'too much' - which really isn't much at all. I'll see what she says.

Hi everyone! Don't really get much time to post. Had a stay or 2 in hospital during August due to pre term labour and baby girl made an appearance on 9th September, 18 days early,7lb 6oz, so really good weight. Didn't make it to scheculed section date, but really glad we made it past the first scare at less than 34 weeks, was all prepped for theatre just in case but thankfully they managed to get the contractions to subside.Taking one day at a time....I'll get there in the end0
