How are you getting on Aunt-Pickle? Any signs yet?DS - 08/15
OU: BA (Hons) Open, 10 -
So I'm still in hospital waiting. Two nights here so far. The pessary help dilate me to 2cm and softened my cervix. I had a show yesterday. But no signs of established labour still. They told me yesterday lunch time that I was good to manually break my waters but there are no beds on the delivery ward so since then I've just been waiting, hoping labour will establish on its own in the meantime but doesn't look that way. I just hope I'm not on this ward for another night. So much waiting around not knowing what's going on.
Was hoping baby would be here by now. I'm glad we only told very few people I was going in for an induction tho!0 -
Oh I'm sorry milly, I really hope things get going for you really soon...Claire_A87 wrote: »How are you getting on Aunt-Pickle? Any signs yet?
Trying not to interpret anything as an indication that something is happening (more intense Braxton hicks, little twinges, etc) Basically, there is absolutely no sign of anything - or at least, nothing that develops into anything! OH says I'm obviously doing too good a job and baby is far too comfortable
We're starting to get texts and phone calls now - despite not telling people my due date. I'm going to stop answering the phone!! Just had someone from work phone and they finished the conversation by saying they're going to "start hounding" me next week for news - as if that's going to achieve anything :mad:Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock0 -

I got so very very annoyed over the last couple weeks from the hounding that I stopped replying to any messages and only answered the phone to my mum. But then in Tuesday I shared a link of something unrelated on Facebook and within 1 hour I had 10 messages from people insisting I give them
An update because they were impatient for baby to arrive and were telling me to do more to get baby out. I then snapped on Facebook and wrote the following status. It's the one and only thing I've put on Facebook about being pregnant. It's a bit mean but it has worked.
If anyone out there thinks I'm sat here with my legs crossed, patiently holding onto this baby, and appreciating all the "advice" people are giving me, like I have full control over this, then please be enlighten to know you are incorrect. This will be my last message of any kind in response to the million messages asking after baby and "if I can speed things along" because You are impatient about its arrival! That is all. Thank you!0 -
Ridiculous milly isn't it?!!
MIL phoned this evening and said "so, any idea when this baby is going to arrive then?" and OH said "you've been asking that for the last 2 weeks" she then got all uppity "all right, I'm only asking, I just want to know" and OH says "and we've already said we'll let you know when things happen" (i.e. when baby is born - no way are we going to tell her when I'm in labour!)
What right does she have to get all annoyed?!! As you said, it's not as if I'm desperate to stay pregnant and am doing all I can to keep baby in!! The fact remains that babies come when they're ready - and even induction isn't a surefire way of making them come quickly (as you're sadly finding out)
They will induce me if I get to 12 days over so the baby will be here in ~2 weeks whether "naturally" or otherwise. I wish I had the courage to tell MIL exactly what I think of her but it's probably best I don't :rotfl:
(mini rant over!)

It was actually my MIL that pushed me over the edge to the point of never answering our home phone. She called me 3 times last week, in the morning, which each time woke me up. She knew I was lying in and then would tell me to make sure I get plenty of rest and just to put my feet up. In The end i had to tell OH to call her and ban her from calling in the mornings and only in the evenings when I knew Oh would be home to speak to her. I haven't spoken to her since. She did offer to visit today but I really can't face her fussing. I do feel bad as my mum quickly popped by for 10 mins to top up my food stash but she only lives 10 mins away and was passing on her way home from work. OH parents it's a 40 min drive each way to hospital so wouldn't be a quick pop by.0 -
btw I don't mind people on here asking how I am and if there are any signs etc because that's what this board is for and I know you are asking to be supportive....
I was just ranting about "friends" and relatives!!!!
Even my mum thinks I should be induced NOW partly because my brother is in the country next week (he lives abroad) and "the baby needs to be here before he visits you". Oh ok then!!!Rock, Paper, Scissors, Lizard, Spock0 -
Oh god, I feel your pain ladies. I didn't go overdue but I knew I would have mil on my case if I did because she was so fussy about my pregnancy. Then when DH called them at 4am to tell them they had a healthy grandson my FIL was just like "what are you calling at this time for". I knew if we had waited till "morning" though that would have also been wrong! You can't win...
Oh and they also wanted him to be born on 5 February (fil's birthday) or the 8th (DH's grandparents anniversary). I have always been thankful he held out til the 10th0 -
Hi everyone!
I'm currently at 30 weeks (1st child- we're having a boy).
Sorry to hear about being pressured to give birth and give birth NOW!!!!!!!! This is one thing I hadn't thought about as my due date approaches!!!! (and I have a quite overbearing mother in law!!)
One thing that really p!sses me off at the minute is the people stroking my (sizeable) bump- I'm not a bloody cat or dog- leave me alone!!!!
One thing I was wondering is if any of you guys have recommendations for baby monitors? We really don't know what's good and what isn't. We can't decide if we want a video one or just a sound one???!!!
Any help would be gratefully received!0
