Wendz86 - thanks, I should probably start very soon then as I'm 33wks tomorrow. I may even have some left over from ds. Will be using the EPO too as I was very lucky not to rip last time (unknown b2b birth with no help) and I think that helped.

    Tilly - congrats! Beautiful name.

Hi everyone, have been rather quiet due to being so busy finishing work and getting last baby bits and house sorted!
To those who asked, hubby will not be smoking in house anymore and hasn't after the other week when I went hysterical and I'm hoping the inconvenience of going outside will make him quit!
Officially on maternity leave now, 36 weeks and just can't wait for baby to be here! Her room is the only finished one in our house atm but hopefully after Thursday the whole lot will be done and dusted :) had a 2nd gtt yesterday which has come back negative again so altho I'm happy I'm not diabetic I'm a bit disappointed that we could still be 6 weeks away from d day.
Congratulations to everyone on pay rises and births :) and welcome to any newbies :) xxx

Congrats Tilly! Hope you are all doing well x

angelmommy-sounds like you've had some scary times, glad things are settling down for you now, hopefully you can enjoy it a little now.

Aww, ashtrayheart, sometimes people really don't think, so they? Hope you're ok after your jab? I had a rather impressive bruise.

trixsie yay for maternity leave! I'll bet it feels much more real now, hey? Glad your hubby is doing as he's told, it was probably just thoughtlessness and force of habit before ? I know what you mean about the smoke, though. I quit the second I found out I was pregnant, and we had someone working in the house recently, and they were smoking in the house-it really does drift, doesn't it?

AFM-yet another let down on the builders and getting the house sorted (it's out of our hands, so feel useless), so she's definitely not going to have a room before she's here-it's going to be months, and having to put up with building work with a newborn in the house. I'm really annoyed, and feel like I've let munchkin down before she's even born, but I can't do anything about it

Getting lots of twinges and pains, and sleeping is impossible, along with a hard bump, so hopefully not long now

    Hugs to everyone xxx

  • Hi all, hope you are well! Will be a bit of a long post from me as I've had an eventful week, but I'll start by trying to catch up with you all first!

jedi - I'm pleased your scan went well and you still managed to stay team yellow!

Huge congrats (again!) to Tilly - she is just so beautiful, congratulations on your rainbow baby :) Take it easy while you can but enjoy every moment.

Make sure you take it easy ashtray heart during your house move preparations. I know its easier said than done but make sure you do give yourself a chance to rest. I was sick of people telling me to relax and put my feet up but I really should have listened :o I hope the move goes smoothly and doesn't put a spanner in the works when it comes to baby's arrival!

angelmommy - glad you are feeling better after a rough time. Also good to hear that baby is doing fine and you were looked after in hospital. I have no idea about the tea or EPO, sorry :o

Happy maternity leave Trixsie! I'm pleased your OH has now stopped smoking inside, fingers crossed he quits altogether :) The money he would be saving on cigarettes he can spend on baby or on treating you ;)

Bubblepops we are in a similar situation to you re: building works. We had workmen come in Mon and Tues this week and none of them actually did anything, they've got to arrange different dates to come back. The worst bit is that all the carpets upstairs need ripping up to sort out floorboards and pipes, then we will get new carpets relaid, but this impacts on the nursery too :( It's definitely not going to happen until after baby is here either. I hope it all gets sorted soon, you don't want to be stressing over it and making yourself unwell. Hope you manage to start sleeping better - are you using pregnancy pillows? I didn't think I would use them but I love my V pillow now :)

Ok, now for my update! I will cut a rather long story short as I'll be here all day otherwise :p
Had my baby shower on Sunday and it was lovely, I don't know why I worried so much :o
On Monday afternoon I went into hospital to get checked over as I was worried about my back and baby after a minor car accident. Back and baby both fine but my blood pressure was high. After being monitored during the day, they decided I needed to be kept in to be monitored over night and I've also been put on medication as I showed minor symptoms of pre-eclampsia.
On Tuesday, I was hoping to get discharged nice and early in the morning, but didn't actually get out until gone 4pm as it was just so busy! I was also on my own all day as DH had to stay at home waiting on the builders coming in :( When the doctor came to discharge me she explained her concerns about my bp and suggested the best plan of action would be to induce labour. I was really shocked and not expecting that at all, especially as I've not started maternity leave yet and had loads of bits to tie up at work, so I am now being induced on Monday

I'm gradually getting my head around the fact that I will have my baby next week although its not in the way I'd hoped. I can't use the MLBU now due to needing constant monitoring of bp which is a shame, but I'm really excited that I won't have as long to wait until I get newborn cuddles :)
I've not been back to work but I'm hoping to pop in tomorrow to say goodbye properly and put things in place for my maternity replacement, so I'm now on maternity leave two and a bit weeks earlier than I was planning!
I've been advised to rest which I still find hard to do as I feel like I've got loads to sort out now before Monday, but I know that trying to be superwoman and staying at work and doing everything I was doing probably contributed to my bp being high, so take note ladies!! It's not worth it, look after yourself but also baby. My little one is quite happy where he/she is but stupid mummy overdoing it means an eviction is happening before he/she is ready. I'll be 38 weeks though so its not too bad, and on the plus side I'm now less likely to have that 10 pounder I was dreading :p:rotfl:

Phew missymoo that's a lot to deal with, I hope you are staying as calm as you can and can't believe baby will be here next week.

Re smoking I remember being told to tell people that smoke to thoroughly wash their hands before touching a new born. I had to ask my brother and brother in law to do this.

Aching.com today. Bum, neck and foot pain, I was off with my toddler today but at work tomorrow sitting at a desk all day, not looking forward to it.

Nearly 33 weeks and need to start to organise myself more as lots to sort before baby comes. Ordered my hypnobirthing vbac cd today and will buy my raspberry leave tea at the weekend. Need to get baby clothes washed as well as moses basket and car seat.

  • wow missymoo, that really is eventful! Hope you can manage to get everything done while still resting!!

We finally managed to find a plasterer so the nursery is now plastered, we just have to wait a few days/a week for it to dry out so we (i.e. OH!) can paint it. Hooray!

My work colleagues have organised a get together on Saturday for lunch at our local pub which will be really nice as I haven't seen them for weeks! This was supposed to be my last week at work before starting mat leave!

My repeat iron blood tests came back and iron levels have dropped so GP has done me a prescription for an increased dose :(
And I'm on metoclopramide (can't remember if I said that before!) as I've had nausea and vomiting again.

Hope everyone else is having a good week.

  • Bit of an update from me I had an appointment in ANC today with the consultant, routine as I'm under consultant lead care. Bp was raised again at 150/92, the doctor wasn't very happy about it & did an internal to see if anything was going on, cervix had thinned to 3cm from 5cm the length of it & she did a sweep as my cervix was favourable apparently. She then said she wanted to admit me for 24 hour monitoring on my bp & of the baby & if it remained high overnight induce me tomorrow!! Well I wasn't expecting any of that! I went home 1st to have another shower & get my bags, got in about 1pm & have been on the ward since, had my bp done 3 times so far & all have been much lower than this morning & both traces of the baby have been fine. I'm hoping that I'll just be let home tomorrow but I expect they'd want to keep a close eye on my bp if they do. I'm 37 weeks today so technically full term but I'd still prefer to go into labour naturally if I could rather than being induced.
  • wow! lots of things happening!

Princess Kate, hope you managed to get some rest overnight and everything's ok and they let you home today

so much going on this week for everyone! I also had a consultant appointment today and after the news from missymoo and Princess Kate I was half wondering if these things come in threes and I was going to be kept in too ! My appointment was brought forward as the midwife measured me and I seemed to have grown 5 weeks worth in the last two weeks !

Luckily, everything seemed OK, My previously high fluid seems to have settled down to the top end of normal now and baby looks good and has turned around and is no longer breech so good news all around.

I also seemed to get my Vbac discussion whilst I was there and have agreed that I get a sweep at 39 weeks to try to move things along, induced at 40 weeks if the sweep didn't work (one or two go's only rather than the 10 it took last time!) and if that doesn't work the we have to go for a c-section. I'm quite happy with that decision. No more consultants appointments either which is good news.

I hope everyone else is feeling OK and managing to get comfortable and get some sleep.

Question though ?? Is anyone else starting to feel like a bit of a slob ! even my maternity clothes are starting to not fit and leave gaps and I seem to be living in the same pair of jeans and couple of t-shirts ! I really don't want to shop for more at this late stage either as it's not very MSE !!

Hello everyone, sorry been quiet, started working in A+E last month and its quite busy to say the least!
Hope the inductions go well for princess kate and missymoo :)
I'm just over 29 weeks now, starting to feel like everything looks like a tent on me and wearing maternity clothes seems to make me look bigger than stretchy normal clothes lol.
Started buying more baby bits now and OH has suddenly gone from being not too fused to bringing home new baby bits on a daily basis! Still dont know where we are going to live when bump is born, as our house sale fell through, so hoping someone buys ours in the next month....and can get things sorted before his arrival!
Good luck to everyone else xxxx
