  • Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas and congrats on baby Emma! Hope there is more baby news soon!

We've had a hectic few days whizzing round seeing everyone, seeing some friends for lunch today and then having a few days in the house. Hubby will be busy plastering and things but I'm planning to rest as much as I can as I'm shattered! I'm almost 34 weeks and feeling bigger every day!

The in-laws bought us some lovely baby items but nothing off my family, they are probably all waiting until s/he is here! Hubby bought me a cute babygro which says 'i love mummy' which was very cute and I got him some chocolate which said 'bestest daddy' on it so was nice to include bump in the day!

We are in the midst of decorating so got money off parents and token pressies so we can buy bits and bobs in Jan/Feb when it's done and nursery will only be getting done once baby is here I think but that's fine as they will be in with us for a few months at least. I feel like we are a bit mad trying to re-do half the house right now but will all be worth it and I'm sure it's easier now than when we have a newborn! Hopefully means it will all be paid for before my mat pat drops so we won't be worrying about finances, we'll just have day to day expenses.

It's lovely to see so many new faces, hope the chat continues in the new year! I'm off work until 5th Jan and then only back for a week and half and then off for maternity leave - can't wait! Planning to do my hospital bag this week and then wash the baby clothes and organise things once I finish work in Jan, I'm finishing when I'm 36 weeks so should have enough time as long as baby isn't early!

I had a bit of a trial in the shop, Princess, although I do want another go taking the bits on and off, folding it up and also attaching/detaching the car seat to it. I just gave it a stroll up and down which was extremely odd! Whilst in John Lewis today there were a couple who were trying out the Oyster and seemed to have difficulty getting the seat on and off, so I definitely want to have another go before we take the plunge and buy. I already know what colour pack I want if its a girl - Humbug! I love it, but because its got polka dots inside the hood it personally seems a bit girly so if we have a boy I'll have to make another decision :)

Nicky Noo Na - we also plan to decorate soon, but we need to wait to hear back from our builder as the floorboards of what will be the nursery need fixing, meaning the whole carpet and floor needs to be taken up :( Really hope that gets sorted soon!
That's great you only have a week and a half left of work, that will fly by I'm sure!

Awwww Freshstart I'm sorry to hear that- how frustrating for you. Hope you are ok.

Congrats to runmichellerun on the birth of Emma- hope you had a lovely first xmas with her.

I'm still here 40+5 and getting blummin annoyed now that nothing is happening. Baby still wriggling away- quite happy in there it would seem.

I have a sweep tomorrow and I'd love baby to come in 2014 so keep your fingers crossed all.
Have a bloody cold to top it all off- can hardly breathe or sleep. OH has taken to the sofa the last couple of nights :(

Hope everyone else is well and looking forward to a sober NYE!!
  • Sorry to hear its not going to plan freshstart and shorty, but hopefully it happens soon! Have everything crossed :)
  • Poor you freshstart11, very disconcerting to be put off til next week - hugs.

shorty1978 Hope your cold clears up son. I'm still here too at 40 +3 - no real "signs" although have had contractions yesterday - maybe 5 in the space of four hours in the late afternoon/evening- maybe just Braxton Hicks, no pattern or anything, not painful, and none so far today. I don't have a sweep or anything booked, but am waiting for midwife to confirm a 41 week appointment.

I do feel as ready as I will really, just would like to know when it's going to happen - the not knowing is making me a bit nervous. I wouldn't mind a new year baby - it might be nice for baby to have a birthday a bit further from Christmas :)

Car seat base ordered on Xmas Eve online arrived today, having said it would arrive on or before 7 January!
  • sorry nothing seems to be happening timeflies and shorty - but hopefully your sweep tomorrow will get things going!
Oh no freshstart! I'm sorry your induction has been delayed - that's so frustrating! Just when you think things are finally happening!
Looking at the list, islandgirl was also due on Boxing Day - hopefully no news may mean somethings happening/has happened?

sulphate and others - hope you're enjoying your time off :D

runmichellerun - congratulations on baby Emma, hope you're enjoying real cuddles! :T

missymoo - how lovely to have a 4D scan as a gift! When are you going to book that for? :)I know what you mean about floorboards in the nursery - except ours is damp from the chimney. OH stripped the wallpaper and what we thought was "old" damp is current so most of the plaster came off swell, and the coving is cracked and it looks a right state. So we will need to find a roofer and a plasterer before we can redecorate . So that's our nursery plans gone out the window - had hoped to have finished decorating it this week while OH was off work and then we could put everything back in 'cos we've got furniture all over the place!!!! (glider chair, cot, single bed, wardrobe etc etc all stuffed into other bedroom and dining room!!!)

Princess Kate - hope you have success with City Link today. I think they were anticipating people would be able to collect from depots. Hope it is easy to work out for you and you get all your stuff safely. :)

Nicky Noo Na - how nice to have little bump Christmas presents! I had a "plaster of paris" kit from bump to me so we can do hand and foot prints of baby. And I had given OH a USB multi-socket thing in the form of a little person. It was nice that we had both thought of doing something! Hospital bag - that just makes it seem all real and slightly scary!!!

Can't remember who was talking about the Aton Q but yes we like that too! (and particularly in the orange!!!) My mum has given us some money for Christmas to go towards car seat and pram which is lovely of her.

Our big purchase in the sales was our Bugaboo Buffalo!!! We really liked it when we tried it out in the stores but the price was a bit steep. However, John Lewis had some on sale on Christmas Day with about 40% off so we bought it!!! They had sold out by Boxing Day so really pleased! It arrived this morning!!! :j

Other than that I am just feeling big and fat and cumbersome :(! I can barely carry a load of washing up the stairs, I keep banging my bump against cupboard doors and I keep thinking I'm only going to get bigger yet  Added to that I have silly baby brain so I can't spell, can't remember things, cry half the time. sigh!!! Sorry for the epic post!!

  • Could have written that last bit of your post myself Aunty-Pickle. Just had tears because my toenail caught on my sock and I was too stubborn to let my OH help me out.
I can't wait for my baby but am so over being pregnant and with this on and off cold now that I've had for about a month.

I'm the same about the not knowing Timeflies- a guaranteed date would be lovely. Only reason I don't want a January birthday is that mine is very early Jan and I've always hated it. It will be my best effort to make sure my baby doesn't feel the same way.

Enjoy all new baby purchases- I have my pram but it's at my mums so not had a chance to play with it much yet. We are debating and Isofix base for the car- I have 0% interest in going to any shops at the moment to even look.
  • They did propess and the first lot of gel, wAs in for two days. Because I am only 39 weeks did not want to csec me so need to go back at 40weeks

  • Sorry you've been starting and stopping freshstart11 - hope it goes much more smoothly next week.

That's a shame you're not able to progress the nursery til the work's done Aunty Pickle - it annoys me when I'm planning that a task can get done and then it can't! Will those be expensive jobs? I'm jealous of your glider chair - I really want one!:D When I've sat in them in mothercare, they're soooooo comfortable when you're feeling knackered in pregnancy, and I bet they'd be great for nursing. I'm hoping I might get one once we eventually move house, but it would have been great to have had one for the last part of pregnancy.

Well done on your Bugaboo bargain -- 40% off is v impressive, and you can feel all the more more smug about jumping in at the right time as they sold out so quickly!

shorty1978 - what don't you like about an early Jan birthday? I think 1 Jan would be a nice day, you'd always have the bank holiday, but any of the first few days baby might well be off school/work in the future. I thought it might be better than being 24/25/26 Dec and just being forgotten amongst Christmas plans.

Hope your sweep is helpful tomorrow and as painless as possible!
