Hi- I am sure you can guess who I am :) First of all let me apologise for the language I used in the post (it wasn't meant in the sense it has been taken in). I appreciate there was no malice in you posting the link, and thank you for wanting to publicise it.

My issue with it was that it (and other sites that did the same) encourages the 'bad compers' to come along in droves (more than if it hadn't been published). The compers who are not interested in reading blogs, the ones that follow then unfollow as soon as it is over. This was who it was aimed at. I guess I should use a filter before posting.

I know I will have offended you all but this was not my intention at all. And to set the record straight (from other posters here) I am not a spoilt princess, quite the opposite, this is why I took it to heart as £25 is a lot of money for me to be throwing away on a fair weather follower. This was a giveaway from my own pocket & not a PR sample as others have suggested.

I just wanted to get my point across a little better than I seemed to do in the original post. Which has now been taken down to avoid any more ill feelings.

    Thanks

    Thank You TeaPartyBeauty

    It is much appreciated.

I just want to give you a hug now :o

I can actually understand that you want the prize to go to someone who has either been on your blog before or who will continue to follow.

    You take care

Thank you, Hayley. I admire someone who stands their corner and you obviously will. I actually agree that it is a lot to pay out of your own pocket for someone who is not really interested in your blog:o

I would still take issue over the names you chose to describe compers though (not the w word, Ethel and co.) - I am afraid this still smacks of ageism to me.

I would say, if you have the patience to wade through this thread, there is some good advice on running giveaways so you don't come up against this situation again.

    Good luck with you blog

People think they are invincible from behind a keyboard.

Like most on here, I imagine, I have been a member of various forums over the past 20 years. On each and every one, at least one person has been reported deceased and turned out to be no such thing - and they were usually caught out in the same way toniq may have caught this person out.

Another which was nearly as bad in its way was a woman who claimed to be a vet and gave out advice on animal care - unfortunately she was no such thing and her 'advice' in a couple of cases at least had awful consequences. I think MSE has tighter rules on things like that.

Then there are always the folk who like to play good cop/bad cop with their seperate identities - unless the glorious day they forget to log out of one before posting as the other:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

:( I don't understand why people do such things. :undecided

not sure what you're on about,
that was to thank you for helping out with the TAB comp,
the other links I posted were because it was another poster who first noticed a similarity with the james/ed postings.

You are easily one of the nicest posters on here, LadyM, and you always seem to try and think the best of everyone:A

The word you used, no matter how you may have meant it, has baggage, serious baggage. That you also then used only female names, instead of the normal "Tom, !!!!!!, and Harry" compounded it.

It was said in a manner to shame women to stop them from acting in a manner that you believe is inappropriate, the same way that !!!!!! shaming is done to women, but only very rarely to men.

Now you know, and to quote a phrase, "knowledge is power". Have fun and I'm sure things will go much more smoothly.

Ethel & Co was not meant as an insult - I love those names & I am not exactly young myself anymore. I have a thing for vintage items & love classic older names that's why they were used. My cat is called Bertie & my sewing machine an older name too. I have a post on age in blogging so by no means was it meant in that way.

As to the W word it wasn't meant in the way taken - but a enter anything & everything way. I should really work on my articulation it seems

    Thanks.

Surely if people have their PMs turned off it should be a two-way street?
It's really horrible to get PMs that are hurtful and have no right to reply :(

If there has been no pm sent then there is no pm to reply too and that's the case here so there's no issue with having them turned off.

No-one should have to have them turned on if that's their choice :)

I am against !!!!!! shaming more than you will ever know, please do not ever think for one second I would find that right. The female versions were used as my blog is a beauty blog & doesn't have many male readers.
