Feb Grocery Challenge £2500 -
Bit late posting but count me in again, have just updated totals, last month I came in 11p under budget  it was close, but I decided to treat us to a meal out and buy a load of stuff to fill the freezer from Iceland near the end of June. Still it was under not over, so that's not too bad, this month I've reduced the monthly amount by £20 so I can help save for a new car with my DH as ours is on the way out. If I can manage that then I'll reduce it more next month, goal is to get down to £250. I've spent over half my budget so far and still got 18 days to pay day so will have to be very good to not burst my budget.
I haven't been able to get on line much recently, but I have been sticking to my budget and meal plans and behaving myself, although I have bought a couple of £4 meal deals from Asda to save cooking after a couple of very stressy days. One thing that kept me on track and not straying too far from the OS path was knowing that I'd have to face the music with your peeps at some point :A
I've got loads of reduced meat in the freezer and bulk bought some everyday essentials to last the month so fingers and toes crossed I'll be able to stay in budget, will catch up on the thread now, good luck to the peeps new to the challenge and here's hoping everyone else stays in budget.

noticed some of you sell books on Amazon to help out with budget. I have some nice books but when I checked on site found there were so many people selling the same books I did wonder if it would be a waste of time.
Any suggestions?:rolleyes:0 -
Spending a little more than expected today, BBQ and me going OTT with food for it as usual! Saying that wasn't as bad as usual as I tend to just buy everything we need without looking at what is in, this time I dragged what we had in the freezer out first. Also going to use the left overs tomorrow, dogs a little miffed I think as they aren't getting it all. Quite proud of my little self. Also bought the dog food for the month so that's sorted. £137.39 left and almost 3 weeks a little scary however! One day I might be more organised...........

Slinkies target 2018 - another 70lb off (half way to what the NHS says) so far 25lb0 -
Bums, just lost my post as my wireless connection dissappeared.....
New total of £109.15 after a £13.94 spend on lunch over the weekend, and some of it's been used today and tomorrow for lunches, plus a bit left for Wednesday too.
Plan to buy more fruit tomorrow (grapes if they're nice in my work's Mr T) for desserts the rest of the weekApril 2021 Grocery Challenge 34.29 / 2500 -
Just back from Mr T (again!). Managed to stay under - just! although I did slip in a sneaky bottle of wine.
Starting from Friday, I've decided to exclude alcohol from the budget - I'll pay for it separately out of our 'spending' money. This is mostly because we get very few opportunities to go out, so having a bottle of wine or a couple of beers at home is more like entertainment than groceries. Also, when the spending money is gone, it's gone, so that will be that until the end of the month when OH gets paid - although I'm hoping it won't come to that as we are planning to have a little left over by the end of the month
Anyway - do you lovely Challengees think this is cheating on the challenge or not?
Curv x↑ Things I wouldn't say to your face
↖Not my real name0 -
No I dont think its cheating - you would take the money for a night out from your spending budget - this is the same as a night out although its a night in, IYSWIM!!
well it all seemed perfectly clear to me at one point ...... :rotfl:... don't throw the string away. You always need string!
C.R.A.P.R.O.L.L.Z Head Sharpener0 -
No I dont think it is cheating either in fact it is a good idea and I will mention it to OH when I get home we are the same very rarely go out and OH likes a couple of beers and I like a glass of wine now and then but this has been putting a strain of my budget as you can see by my earlier thread I have not alot of money left in budget till payday on 25th but I might just manage if it was not for the fact Oh keeps reminding me next time you go shopping can you get me a few beers or he sees a case advertised in shopping leaflets which i agree is a cheaper way but not when every last penny is budgeted for.
So you have given me an idea thank you curv will let you know how I get on.Frugal challenge 2025
