Had to get a few bits and pieces yesterday, wasn't feeling too great so just went to local corner shop rather than supermarket.. 89p on a loaf of bread :eek:Getting dangerously close to budget with still two weeks to go, cupboards are very full though and don't need anything this week so I don't think I'll go too far over.. you never know, if I'm very careful I might just make it!

I have £100 of Sainsburys vouchers that I get at a discount from work. I am trying to make this cover all of my food for the month- including lunch which I used to buy at work. When I was at university I used to have £10 a week for all my food and I usually managed to stick to it, but in the 4 or so years since then the amount I'm spending on food goes up and up and up.

My sister was telling me she spends £1000 a month on food. She has same number of kids and same age as mine but I have more boys. I feel bad if I get up to £350 a month. She has made me feel so much better than I did before. I feel now as though I am achieving something positive. So HUGE THANKS for the encouragement to do this challenge.

I have recently been awarded £50 in M & S vouchers as an incentive at work, and as I never buy much new in the way of clothes, and have sufficient underwear for the next year or so, can anyone advise me as to how would be the most cost-effective way of using these? I was intending to use them in their food department but nearly DROPPED when I saw the prices. I reckon if I spend them on food I will only be getting half their cash value!

What about selling them on ebay - you will get fairly close to their face value, which you can then spend on whatever you choose!

you could use them to buy christmas gifts; there's a great christmas MSE thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=421179&highlight=christmas here and you will see that people are way ahead with their christmas shopping, or maybe stock up on other household items for yourself like bed linen for example?

I've spent half my budget already £149 and I've got a £25 fruit and veg box delivery this week too. So that will be £174  . Need to cut back last 2 weeks.
I'm not wasting much but am freezing quite alot of stuff so hopefully will be able to eat out the freezer at the end of the month.

BTW £1000 a month on food - what are they eating????
