Good Luck HB with the market stalls, am sure this is the best time of year for them. I haven't done many as always find it hard to do weekend events around kids commitments, and they are usually all day , but would love to be able to.:)

  • Well, coming up to last busy weekend before I can really make a start on additional moneymaking schemes. Money extremely tight as I have been lax with the YNAB and spending monitoring the last few weeks. However, that is all going to change after this coming weekend. I will be back on the MSE wagon with a vengeance.
At least all agreed payments have been made and all bills paid. We will just be a bit hungry as the month wears on. 20 days to payday.
I was hoping this month to spread the available money out more evenly, but it hasn't happened. In fact, it's worse than last month because I'm feeling the pinch after one week!
My plan is to get this weekend over. Try not to feel guilty and then get back on the MSE wagon.
One good recent development, though, is we have had solar panels fitted...electricity bills should be going down.
And I am really glad that debt mountain is on the way down...next goal is to get into double % figures on total amount paid off.

    2018 overpayment total - £5,500
Mortgage and debt free by August 2020
  • So...been naughty. Had hair done because car insurance initial payment not coming out till November. But feel whole lot better. Hope the cash will last out the weekend. It feels a bit worrying having an overnighter without the back up of a credit card. I will try hard to be as frugal as possible.
Then next week the money making schemes have to start or else I'm in big trouble. I will climb back on the MSE wagon.
    Feeling a bit rebellious today.

We had solar panels fitted about 3 years ago and yes they have made a huge difference to out bills - about £45 a month now from £75 and even now always in credit - evens out for us as in summer we heat water with electric but in winter our hot water CH and cooking is all solid fuel - power company cant their head round this that our consumption goes down in winter:rotfl: In spring we will be fitting a whatnot ( no idea of technical term!) that will divert generated electric directly to heating our water so hoping for a further reduction. You may find however as your panels have been fitted recently that you wont see the full benefit until next year as light levels are dropping now - but dont despair longer days will come round again!

We are having solar fitted in 2 weeks and we are having an immersun fitted, which diverts any electric not used to the hot water.

  • Been really busy over the last week. Great trip to London, but am now completely skint! I have just over £5 to last until 23rd Oct. I just did not have the energy this morning to get up and do the carboot. So I have to survive 11 days...argggggggh! On a fiver.
Did a market stall yesterday, but ended up £5 down. My plan is not working. I have enough fuel in the car to last maybe two days. I have to get some money from somewhere...any ideas?

  • Do you have local Facebook selling sites - you could either try and sell your car boot stuff as a job lot or offer pieces individually?

Could your OH give you some money for petrol?

How far is it to work? Could you walk if you left early enough?
  • Have you any points on nectar card, HB which may tide you over? I exchanged a couple of old mobile phones , only got 20 quid for them but it really helped recently. Also put a couple of items on gumtree & was going great guns on that for a few days , thought that might produce a steady source of weekly income for me but now seems to have dried up !! I admire you for your resourcefulness & i have no doubt you can do this !

    Hi Historybuff :)

When you visited my thread you didn't tell me you had one of your own! I've found you :) I wholly relate to the background to your DMP. it's just like me......running up debts just trying to do the right thing.....and keep everybody happy......though maybe that's not always the right thing :(

I have been through the wars with my immediate family who at the time of my initial LBM turned against me when I finally had to come clean about the debts. I think we all have a way of living now and things are calmer and only flare up now and then :)

There is one thing that's different about us though......I am a man. There are lots of ladies on this site and if I am honest, I am not too proud of my own sex when I hear about the amount of 'head burying' that the male fraternity do when it comes to finances. Its quite the opposite here now.....I must be showing my feminine side :)

I have subscribed Historybuff....I hope that's OK and wish you the absolute best.

    Brogden x
