Seems to be a lot of 'ducking and diving" you're recommending..

Personally, I'm far too honest for all that...

This isn't a debt for goods or services received this is Sky wanting £300+ and nothing will be delivered, no subsidised dishes, boxes or install has been provided, no loss will be suffered.

If you personally want to take such a strange moral stance when dealing with Murdoch et al then its not honesty you are displaying, it is something else.

This is a civil matter if they wish to come for the money then fine, my very simple question was "how will they find you".
  • If you personally want to take such a strange moral stance when dealing with Murdoch et al then its not honesty you are displaying, it is something else.
Really? What would this "something else" you refer to be? I'm no Sky apologist.
  • Thanks everyone
I was told I am in contract with no cooling off period.
Although I am too emotional at the moment, I would hope in a few months time ill be able to move it. For the time being I have to stay with family who cannot take it.
my only concern just now is if they will suspend the service so that new tenants wont be able to connect using something I am paying for.
I have to go pack up today so will try and phone again today.

    Thanks again.
    Cc debt; £4950 Tesco - £3.37 Boots - £3.94 £2 pot - £0.00 Sealed pot NO40 - £7.87 no spend days jan-3/31 £2 savers = £6

New tenants won't be able to connect to the Sky you pay for without your viewing card and digibox, so forget about that.

However, you need to explain to Sky exactly what your problem is. They may or may not be sympathetic to your plight (usually they want you to pay an Early Termination of Contract fee), but you won't know for sure until you ring them.

Are you sure the family you are going to be staying with could not accept your Sky? Sky do a free "House Move" service and will come and install a dish at the new address (if they don't have it already). You'll then continue with your existing subscription and cancel when the minimum term ends. Or you could pay an independent to install a dish and just connect your digibox at the new address for the duration of your stay there.

The alternative is to "disappear" as Kurtis_Blue recommends.

I did not recommend disappearing, I simple asked the question, how would they find you, as it is different for every case.

I would always suggest doing all that is reasonable, for example not just leaving them hanging and chasing.

Send them the cancellation letter, explaining all and stating, if I have read correctly, that in this case that you are moving abroad to live with family members.

Take the early termination money and put it a side for a while.

Can't see any mention (or implication) of moving abroad?

Why don't you just advise the OP to say she is moving abroad rather than beating around the bush?

Your posts and questions are strange.

Can you elaborate why you are asking does this have some hidden relevance to you ? if not I would rather not waste time with it.
  • Your posts and questions are strange.
Is this why you ceased posting for months? You seem to believe that my posts are "strange", but I'm honestly equally perplexed by your cryptic comments. I have no hidden agenda..
