renewed contract for big discount but split from bf a week later help

Hi, wonder if anyone can help.
I recently applied mse tactics and got £14 a month discount from sky, tv phone and broadband. Saving about £170.
A week later by boyfriend told me its over. We have to move and he cant afford it. I can but have no where to take it to. I am staying with family for the short term (3 days in im not ready to be in a new empty flat - nor can I afford to set up elsewhere on account of still having bills to pay)
Obviously im in contract but what happens here? In a few months hopefully I will get a flat but would they hold it? Thst would be fine but I think I would still be paying to supply my current place would I not?
Or do I just have to accept my bad luck and pay a termination fee of the £330 left (just paid first month)
Grateful for any advice.

Sorry for your loss - but it is easier to just pay (downgraded as much as you can to minimise the costs, but they rarely do this within the minimum contract period). The equipment is yours, take it with you, and arrange a reinstall when you can.

Hi, can you phone them as a lot of contracts have 14 day "cooling off" period. As it is only a week into contract I would personally give it a try. Good luck.

A discounted Sky account is not "new" and does not have such a cooling off period.

OP should do as Buzby suggests above...

Did you sign up to Sky as a brand new customer a month ago? Or was you already an existing customer and just got this 'offer' applied to your account a month ago?

If you are an existing customer out of contract and just got some offers applied to your account you may be in luck as I was recently..

I got a few 'offers' applied to my account about 6 months ago and was under the impression I was in a new contract term, even the customer service rep on the phone said I was when I asked him if it would start a new contract.

Yet when I rang a few weeks ago to enquire about moving away to Plusnet as I can now get Fibre broadband, the Cancellations rep advised I was NOT in a new contract and I simply had 'offers' applied to my account which do not affect my contract term. Essentially I was able to move away from Sky to Plusnet penalty-free, just had to give the usual 30 days notice as I had been with them around 3 years.

    Hope this helps.

Obviously the OP did not sign up as a new customer.

I sincerely doubt your personal experience will be of any use to the OP who is very definitely in a new minimum term and even quotes the cost of the Early Termination of Contract (ETC) fee.

No, but as Sky employ DCA's who will not think twice before wrecking the contract holder's credit file, and that will have more serious consequences later.

The point was does the OP know they have definitely 'renewed' their contract? Or did they assume like I did and by the guessing customer service rep on the phone? :T

The Sky cancellations rep explained to me you are only put in a new contract if you add a new product or upgrade, then the CS rep has to clearly explain a new contract term will start (so I'm told)... All I did was get multiple discounts (or 'offers') applied to my account which the OP may well of done.
