That's a relief for you. I am just sat watching my bump move all over the place, it's a really active baba :)

Glad all turned out to be ok freshstart11!

Congratualtions on your baby boy news happy_2008 and tia86

Mr_knight, my OH is worried he will inadvertently find out at the scan whether it's a boy or a girl, so says he will try not to look much! He doesn't want to get the pictures either, in case he can tell from them. I said I'm sure if you say you want a surprise the sonographer won't make it obvious.

Not sure of I can't sleep because of the scan today, or because I've been having a busy/stressful time at work and not looking forward to that today.

How did everyone decide when to start maternity leave, if you have it? I'm thinking of maybe 1 December for my 26 December due date, but my colleague sounded surprised I'd want to go "early" when I mentioned it as a possible date. I have no idea how I'll feel by then, or how I'll be getting on with the house move/renovations. I figured baby could easily appear early, but then first ones tend to be late

Good luck with your scan today RockPaperScissors!

Good luck with your scan Time flies, hope its not at the end of the day. I have decided 30th November to start maternity (apparently my work said the date must be a Sunday) and my due date is 19th, I keep thinking should I go another week but decided I will be feeling tired at that point and I have a bit of a trek to get to work which I don't fancy doing at that stage of pregnancy. From seeing other people struggle I think it is better to go early than try to soldier on, and who knows if baby comes early.

Good luck for your scan too RPS

    Glad everything was OK freshstart

Mr knight how exciting and strange to see and feel, I think I am beginning to freak out about the whole pregnancy experience

Bye Freebie, see you in a few weeks!
  • Hello Everyone

Please can I join you all? We had our scan yesterday and measured 12+4 weeks :D

Everything seems more real after seeing our bean move around so much, we had a jump and a wave and lots of what looks like thumb sucking. We also had a really good face view and good look at the spine.

We haven't told many people yet as we have had some sad family news so are going to wait for that to pass before we tell everyone.

Our EDD is 15/02/15 and our 20 weeks scan will be towards the end of September.

We were asked if we wanted to know the gender and when those parts were being scanned she told us to "stare into each others eyes" lol. Hubby just couldn't resist a peak though.

As for maternity leave I am planning to go about first week in November. Just to have some chill time and to cook and stock the freezer up. My friend went the week before and another girl I worked with went about 9 or 10 weeks before! I think it depends on how you feel.
  • Officially I am on mat from 29/12/14 and due on 4/1/15 however I am on leave from 4/12/14 so I get 4 month full pay off and 6 months SMP which isn't terrible xx

I thought I would stay at work up until week 39 to save more time for afterwards. I can only say how deluded that was. Since the late 20s I have found work more and more tricky to cope with (heat hasn't helped) but also getting more tired.

I normally love my job but I am on count down. Weeks 32-34 are 4 days weeks, 35-36 are 3 days weeks and am off properly from 37. Lots of people on the big thread have struggled to get that far and lots have needed to be signed off at various points. I am lucky and only had one day off sick.

Don't worry too much about not having time afterwards. Time before is really important too.

    30+4

    Welcome estate princess

Thanks lilmissreading for sharing your experience.

We are painting the nursery today when OH gets up, feels quite real now as we went and bought the cot yesterday along with other kiddicare bargains. Feeling quite scared that by Christmas I will be responsible for a little person.
Realised I have no clue on simple things such as bedding, hope this gets explained at antenatal classes

Morning all! Can I join here now too? Had 3rd scan Thursday but baby once again in awkward position so estimate of 11+5 and according to previous scan should have been 11+6 so around about the same mark! Going back for rescan at 16 weeks so 11th September! Consultant hoping baby will have moved by then so she can do proper measurements!
