Dingdong - yep Friday for me. If I wasn't going away I would've tried to hold out for another day or two. Knowing me I would've tried and failed and tested on Friday anyway.
I did a couch to 5k plan starting in late June and was running 5k without trouble at the beginning of sept. When I started and couldn't run 90s without wanting to die I never imagined I could do it and was sure I probably wouldn't make it. So you may surprise yourself. For me the extra calories burnt from running mean I don't have to be strict with my diet.
That reminds me has anyone else been losing weight for TTC/pregnancy? I currently eat around 1500cals most days and I'm unsure what I'll increase to when I hopefully get a BFP. You don't need to eat more until the third trimester and then it's only 200cals. It's taken me a long time to change my eating habits and get down to a healthy BMI so I'm worried I will blow it when pregnant/on mat leave.
Eeek, roll on Friday then! Sorry I can't help with the weight one, if anything I'll be eating more as my BMI is pretty low - not by choice, I'm one of those annoying people that eats and eats and yet doesn't put on weight....it's not as fun as it sounds though
I know you have to be about 7.5st to get periods and obviously I need to keep above that therefore in order to ovulate and be able to not only produce, but also to carry a baby.0 -
Lulu, sorry to hear about AF , though stick the kettle on, I'm coming round, your afternoon baking sounds delish!
Ding dong, I started with the c25k too in March, and did a race for life 5k in June and have done a 10k in sept. I'm not fast or particularly amazing, but I do enjoy it (once I'm home!) and it has really changed my shape. It definitely tones and firms you up. I try to run 3 times a week, and I must say that the winter months are my favourite as its lovely and cool, I tend to overheat / can't breathe if it's warm out. Plus when it's dark, no one sees you! Just make sure that someone knows your route and when you're due back and give it a go. When I started I couldn't jog lamppost to lamppost, and now j can do a 10k if I want, but I much prefer 5k. That doesn't take up too much time.
Pm04gn, I don't count calories, just try and be sensible, but I am very good at treating myself to bakery goods/sweets. I have no will powertechnically I need to lose a stone to be in a healthy bmi; I'm borderline at the min (maybe not do borderline with the recent +2kg increase:eek:).
I think that once you fall pregnant generally women will naturally begin to select healther food, which is naturally lower in cals/bad fat. As you are not just fueling yourself, but a baby.
Well that's what I'm hoping, as I may love a donut/ scone for breakfast, and ignore the lack of nutrition, but would I feed a newborn a donut? No, so why would I feed it that while preggo? I think the advice to eat healthy whilst ttc is so you have developed good habits0 -
fresh start you can come and eat fudge and cake if you clean my house like you've done yours!
I don't have that mentality because I know we will be in a different house by the middle of next year which will be all new and clean already!
can't believe how many of you are testing in such a short time - maybe all of your cycles have synced up! :rotfl:
I really need to get on the health kick again but I know that I won't be motivated until there's a baby inside me! I agree with the idea that you choose healthier things when you're pg. It annoys me that my pg friend drinks shandies and has been all through her pregnancy, and I got mistaken for another pregnant friend yesterday!
Thanks for all your kind thoughts btw, Currently chilling out watching Elf trying to take my mind off the feelings of disappointment and failure. No idea how to go about ttc next month. Our Rainbow Twins born 17th April 2016

Sorry, couldn't help but to giggle a bit at this! Once you have a craving that nothing but that craving can satisfy, it's different.
During the first 12 weeks or so the placenta is forming, so the baby doesn't really take anything from your body until the placenta is formed. At around 20 weeks, the baby ups what it takes from you. The baby will get exactly what it needs from you, regardless of what you eat. It's more of a 'take care of yourself to keep from having nutrient/mineral deficiencies in yourself.' Baby will be fine and will kind of fend for itself food wise if that makes sense.
It's always a good idea to try to eat healthy, but some people end up being sick if they eat anything healthy and can only handle the really 'bad' foods. Some people are opposite. My midwife has told me to eat whatever I like, just do it within reason (I have a very high bmi, and she isn't worried about my weight during pregnancy).
It's best (supposedly) to get healthy/in shape before conceiving, because you don't want to lose too much weight or overwork your muscles during pregnancy. I now have spd (not diagnosed yet, but fairly sure I will be at my next midwife appointment in 8 days) and that doesn't matter what your size is, it has to do with hormones. It hurts and keeps me from walking very much, so exercising is a bit difficult at this point, but I'm doing my best to stay active.
If you can eat healthy and keep up with exercise the whole pregnancy, I tip my hat to you! It's extremely difficult to do in my opinion, but I'd still say go for it if you can.
Hope this hasn't come off as snobby or anything, I really don't mean it like that, just sharing!
