If you took the photo then it is your copyright (I'm not sure that China is renowned for respecting this law) and you could insist on its removal, but your cost to enforce this would be prohibative.
Suggest that you add a footnote to your listing to say that the photo is the actual item that you will receive and that you are aware that another listing has copied it (although you run the risk of directing your buyers there !).0 -
With auctiva, when you put your 'username' across the picture, you also run the risk of someone using your 'username but amended' to list and use the same photo.
E.g. bluebell
bluebell_1
bluebell.123
bluebell xxx
they can just amend and add their amended name at the end? :rotfl:
So, you could watermark 'twice' i.e. add bluebell in white, then bluebell in another colour. Or, you could save the photo in landscape, add bluebell that way, then save in portrait and then add bluebell again, so 2 bluebell watermarks.?
But, then some sellers who dislike your listing could also report you for something e.g. high pp just so they can remove your listing.
(Auctiva sometimes does not work  like yesterday!)
And another problem: would you search similar items you have sold/intend to sell every week?
and look for your photos?
Have any of you come across sellers using your 'watermarked' images?

Use a watermark, I stopped using Auctiva due to their high costs (£3.63 to list 4 items), I recently started to use 'Listing Factory', now this DOES have watermarking facilities.Never Knowingly Understood.

Or better you can use invisble watermarking not to damage the image impression. Moreover if it is invisible watermarket the potential thief dont know about the signature and would not try to remove it. For this purpose is ideal DigiMarc or much cheaper SignMyImage. GL0 -
i use a program called watermark factory, very quick and subtle watermarks and can do bulk photos too, i got it free but i think you may have to pay now - still worth it for the time saved0

Basically yes, they can get your listings removed if they notice but more worryingly it is a mark of a scammer to use stock photos for items they don't actually have.
A good clear photo of the actual item is amuch better advert, it shows you have the item there ready to be sent and seperates you from the dodgy sellers.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. If you 'right-click' on any of my listing photos on Ebay, listed via Auctiva.com, it will NOT ALLOW you to save the photos!!!
This is FACT - go and try it for yourself. Find a listing using auctiva - easy to spot - provided that they have the 'right-click block' enabled it will not allow you to save/copy the photo.
No, you can't right-click it... but you could press Print Screen, and paste the image into Paint or Photoshop :rolleyes:Back on MSE after a 5 year hiatus.
