Tesco sell "grannys soap flakes" can't remember in which bit of the washing powder section they're in but defo on the bottom shelf - pinkish box with a picture of .. well a granny! Borax is in the eco cleaning part with all the ecover and tesco naturally - they also do bigger boxes of bicarb. These are in the tesco naturally range
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 2008

If you're really struggling to find them in the shops - you can get them direct from Dri-Pak at http://www.dri-pak.co.uk/mailorder.html

Wilkinsons sell both soap flakes and borax. Bought both on Saturday, they are hidden on the lower shelves in the cleaning section.
Excellent blog Rhonda Jean, read it daily
  • I managed to find soap flakes at Sainsbury's- Dripak ones. I haven't found borax yet, will try Boots and Wilkinson's tomorrow.

    My Tesco doesn't have either:rolleyes:

Boots does Borax in the larger stores. Near either the eco-friendly stuff or the baby stuff.

I bought bicarb of soda from my local chemist. It cost just under £5 for an enormous tub.

My local pound/hardware/cheap-mops-and-toiletries-shop (sorry, don't know what to call it!) sells borax and soap flakes, as well as soda crystals and all that odd stuff. Chemists sometimes sell borax too.

don't know about the soap flakes, but borax & huge packs of bicarbonate of soda (not washing soda) can be had from Chinese supermarkets

the borax was on sale in the food shelves
  • Got some borax from Boots', so thanks to all who pointed me in that direction. They also had their own brand soap flakes but they were about 15p more than in Sainsbury's.

I also bought ammonia for the first time ever at Homebase yesterday, going to tackle my oven with it.

I've run out of washing powder now so I'm off to mix up a batch of hm stuff using the recipe on Rhonda Jean's site ;) It's the concentrated laundry powder recipe I'm trying.
