Hope you are feeling a bit more energised today,Emz, and enjoying the holiday weekend. No wonder you feel washed-out sometimes as despite your medical issues you still seem to cram more into your days than most of us manage to do:eek:
I'm glad your car is finally fixed. I hate having anything wrong with mine and having to rely on others to sort it. I'm pretty handy with most things but car repairs etc are totally out of my league.
Mine wouldn't start at all when I needed to get to an urgent appointment on Friday afternoon. Had worked perfectly the day before. All lights and other electrics were working so I knew it wasn't the battery. Of course, typically, OH was out somewhere in his car so I had to cancel my appointment. Long, long wait now for the only rescheduled one they could offer me:mad:. Living in a rural backwater with one bus a week to the local market town a car is a lifeline. Mine is pretty ancient but there's no way I can afford another and it has been really reliable at very little expense so far. Just the age for everything to start going wrong now I suspect:(
Anyway (sorry about long story:o) OH tried various things on Friday evening but couldn't get it to start and suspected it was the solenoid (whatever that is). Panic stations for me:eek: on hearing that as I have absolutely no back-up savings and no credit cards now I'm on a DMP. OH is totally unaware of my debt problems. I'd cancelled my Breakdown cover last year as being unaffordable in my financial situation (very foolish I know but something had to give)
Miracle of miracles, his AA cover(which he gets as a perk of his TSB bank account and which he is closing down in 2 weeks time was still active and included Homestart) covers him for any car he drives so he called the AA first thing Saturday morning and a lovely man was here within the hour and fixed it free. I had to pay £92 for the solenoid itself (which the guy had to fetch from the nearest Unipart depot 10 miles away once he'd diagnosed the problem) but nothing for the labour etc. He also did a few minor 'jobs' to other things too which I was unaware needed doing and hadn't even mentioned to him. Altogether a really lovely man. OH paid by CC and said I could pay him back later so I may get a bit of a breather until my ebay stuff sells at the end of next week:j0
