Willowbrook prices horrendously expensive

My 86 year old mum needed a new electric adjustable bed to replace her Willowbrook one. So we got Willowbrook in to give her a price for a new one. The salesman arrived.....wouldn't give a price till the end of his very long demonstration then wrote the price on a bit of paper. £2249. For a single bed!
She accepted this and paid £500 deposit.
Then she went into hospital. The bed got delivered ....and mum went into a nursing home, never returning to her house. So a brand new, totally unused bed which we now need to sell. That's when we realised what a con it all is...£2249 for a bed you can buy for less than £600.
I am sure there is nothing we can do as an agreement was signed with Willowbrook. I just wanted everyone to be aware of their totally inflated prices and the fact that their sales techniques seem to be just like the old double glazing salesmen, even down to 'ringing the boss' to check that the price is the lowest they can offer.
Moral of this - check out other prices before Willowbrook visit you so you know what the market rate is.

I was under the impression i had explained all that in previous postings! The major issue with this company is deceptive advertising, eg start price of a chair at £8000 and then making it half price, and then even reducing it further if the customer does not get hooked straight away! They offer a no quibble 7 day cool off period, but they dont - on the back of the paperwork, it states that you have signed away the right to cancel. They told Mother that the deposit would be one price, but it was 3 times that amount! "over 50 years of experience" - try 2.5! "lovingly made in our English factories" They have a 2 window office, and they place orders for the chairs to a different company who source most of the items from Germany! When you dig deep in the the "Waters" family, you find that they have so many company names registered, in back up for when this one gets busted, they go on countless holidays a year ( Did Facebook stalking!) . Its just so so wrong of them, to con the most vulnerable people in the community like this, we were lucky, as in Mother had me go all through the information and realise what had happened But there are plenty of people out there that have been stung by them. Willowbrook recliners is incredibly similar too! All you need to do is google "recliners scam" and you will see a very long list!0 -

11 Are there any sites, from experience, which are likely to generate lots of spam?
There are a few which have come to our collective attention as sites that, when used for comps, seem to generate lots of unwanted postal, email & phone call attention. These are listed below for your information, however, please do remember that this is only the collective opinion of other MSE Compers & does not necessarily reflect upon the sites themselves.

Smiling is contagious you catch it like the flu,
when someone smiled at me today i started smiling too 。◕‿◕。 i passed around the corner & someone saw my grin & when he smiled i realized i'd passed it on to him, so, if you feel a smile begin don't leave it undetected, let's start an epidemic quick & get the world infected 。◕‿◕。0 -
