Mud!!

I cover my white sofas in throws and have discovered that my long haired cats have been sneaking underneath when they've been in the mud:-(
They've also been under the duvet - and I have white bedding :-(0 -
I gave up in the end and opted for laminate and can't believe how much easier it is to keep clean.
Really? Have you seen my photo on page 1?
But I have to say - Zara comes home from her walk with a dog walker all wet etc and by the time I get home it dries and drops off as on the photo I posted before... sigh....
From tomorrow she is having 2 walks with the dog walker - I do not even want to think about the state the flat will be in...
BUT - will have a very happy dog - dog walker with pick her up at around 10:30 and drop her off at around 2.30. Zara will be picking up/droping off dogs between the 2 walks and walk on both walks, We are going to try this for a month and see how it goes....0 -
But could you imagine how a carpet would look after that, GR? Laminate isn't necesarily easy, but easier than alternatives!0

I am thinking of a weird coloured/weird patterned carpet to be honest - laminate is killing me, mixture of mud/water from water bowls/cat/dog hair etc etc......when you out of the house for the whole day and come back to THAT
But then again - 5 tails wagging....:rotfl::rotfl:0 -

The liquid mud water is running off the fields and down our drive & front steps . A total of 56 muddy paws in and out numerous times per day.
I am just about ready to slit my wrists!! We even have mud splats on the ceiling!!
Good job we love them all to bits :smileyhea.
How do you cope, people think we're nuts with just the six dogs (never thought I'd be saying JUST the six)0 -

What you want to look into is a pub carpet. Not the best patterns but designed to hide the dirt and mess. As a bonus they last forever, I run a pub, the carpet by the main entrance is getting on for 10 years old and looks almost as fresh as a daisy, even with 700 people a week walking over it.0 -
I have been on a mission the last few years to cut down on cleaning/housework, etc. However there has to be a balance so that it's acceptable looking, etc. (otherwise, I could have gone for mud floors...)
So.. dogs live in kitchen and breakfast room during day with the run of the garden. Garden is patio and fake grass (it rains, it gets wet, it dries. No mud yay!). The carpet in the breakfast room finally got fed up and left home 2 weeks ago and I had some vinyl tiles fitted which are fantastic! Not cheap at all - ceramic would have been cheaper - but easy to clean and look great. Kitchen is onyx tiles.
As long as they are relatively clean when they come in from their walks it's really easy, and if they aren't it's still pretty easy - their beds might need a wash but that's all, everything else is sweepable, mopable, etc.
Edit - i just read that back, I do sound a bit smug. But then, I have served my time as slave to long haired dogs and their mud habits for many years. Plus th Spin can shake his head and reach the ceiling with his slobber....0 -
Luckily my cottage is that dated that I have the pub-style carpet Yorkie Pud mentioned upstairs! Downstairs is tiled, so absolutely freezing to walk on, but easy to mop (if LS will stop attacking the mop long enough to let me do it!).
I have found with him it is easier to let him in the house caked in mud, wait for it to dry and drop off, and then clean the house. Trying to towel him down ends up in a shredded towel, me covered in mud and him looking smug!0
