Mud!!

I have to say, I am loving this thread. I have give up entirely trying to keep on top of the never ending tide of filth.

I was never particularly house proud to begin with but Shadow has taken the phrase 'living in a pig sty' to a whole new level.

The never ending rain has lead to every flipping floor continually caked in muck, trailed in from the garden, we call our wellies 'our muckys' and they all now permanently reside by the back door in a neat row - with the fleece liners often trailed out and lovingly presented to you whilst we are watching the telly.

A varied assortment of mismatched throws cover the settee and chairs, the car STINKS of stagnant swamp and quite frankly I would be mortified were we to give anyone a lift in it.

I go through at least one change of jeans a day, what with the mud splatters, mucky paw prints and sand from the beach encrusted everywhere.

I have decided that to the casual observer, I must look like a farmers wife that has just come in from the fields - sensible coat 'covered in clabbers', mad hair due to being windswept and pockets full of some ungodly crumbs, gloves, fingerless gloves, emergency leads and poop bags. This is such as good look at school pick up time, where the yummy mummy's hop out of their bmws in power suits and sky scraper heels (whilst I look on - if I've remembered my glasses with green eyed envy mingled with the thought 'they would be of no use to you when you're trying to pick up poop in a gale')

The washing machine here is about to give up the ghost too, what with the clothes changes, the towels, the throws, the just washed bedding that gets merrily leapt on by a filth monster. Then, there's the radiators covered in said damp washing, clothes horses in front of the open fire which gets met with the comment 'that bleddy thing is blocking all the heat. Sigh.
Sure, we wouldn't have it any other way, would we?

    ROLL ON SUMMER!

I've got 2 puppies (13 weeks old) and they've just discovered the joy of the garden. What great fun they've had chewing up pieces of bark (they'd sneaked in) on living room carpet. Poor hubby has cleaned carpet every weekend since they arrived. Certainly hard work but oh so worth it.

Yep, that's the tide mark I mentioned earlier!

From now on I'm just going to get black dogs so that at least the dirt is less obvious. ;)

2 spaniels that love mud! I don't like to bath them too often as I've heard it's not good for them.

I have a bunch of old towels that I use and seem to wash every other day at the moment with all the rain we've had! Although I have found a field that seems to have great drainage and they're not getting too bad, even when playing fetch!

I hoover/clean the floors every day though, even them just going in the back garden (which is now ruined and lawn needs replacing) gets their paws muddy...I have a large beach towel at the back door but it doesn't get it all off!

12 large, hairy, energetic dogs here (plus two Siamese cats) in one small cottage in the middle of nowhere and surrounded by fields (as in very, very, very MUDDY fields)!! The liquid mud water is running off the fields and down our drive & front steps . A total of 56 muddy paws in and out numerous times per day.

I am just about ready to slit my wrists!! We even have mud splats on the ceiling!!

Good job we love them all to bits :smileyhea.

Thankfully my cats use an upstairs window into a bathroom as the cat flap?....bathrooms are easily cleanable.

I've just got laminate flooring put down after years of trying to cope with two dogs and a beige carpet.

They'd come in from the swamp masquerading as a garden and leave a neat trail of black paw marks right across it. I at least made an attempt to wipe their paws but O/H just mumbled "I forgot" when confronted with the evidence.

I gave up in the end and opted for laminate and can't believe how much easier it is to keep clean.

Of course I still get the mud splatters all up the walls when the dogs have a good shake coming in out of the rain and the mud smears on the throws on the sofa from the mud I missed on their tummies.

Just as well we DO love the mucky little horrors!

Big dogs, white walls, don't know what I was thinking  It's a small room so the white does help make it look a bit bigger, so I can't bring myself to paint it a more sensible colour, but it does take some maintenance (the odd re-coat - the previous owner had hideous blue and green walks previously, so wiping down the paint makes that bleed through), proper wipeable paint seems to have a bit of a sheen to it though so not all that keen.

Oh well, it gives it a lived in look I suppose. And takes the attention away from the cobwebs :rotfl: And it's far better here than when we used to live in the middle of a farm, and the dogs used to get home from walks looking like this
