Oh yes, been there, done that, this morning actually. I just gave the lounge a good clean. When I took the seat cushions off the sofa there was enough sand to fill a beach. There was mud on the cushions and all up the back and on the arms. Plus my tv and the glass unit it sits on had a really thick layer of dust, sand, mud and god knows what else. My washing machine filter was blocked with debris from the towels I've been washing which had been used in an attempt to clean her up. There was mud and snot and mank up the walls and my nice glass doors. And all the time I'm trying to clean she's trying to "help" by dropping balls at my feet and barking at the hoover.
And yes, I love my doggie too. :)

Well, you can not really dry a long haired GS and this is what I normally find when I get home from work - after Zara has been out with the dog walker, by the time I get home it is lovely and dry....

Before I had her I had a Golden Retriever, so I know exactly where you're coming form. His coat never, ever dried properly and all the manky stuff got stuck in his "feathers". I used to cut it off but it was still a nightmare. Even though Bailie's got a short coat it's amazing how much crap she sheds from it. I hose her at least once a day but it doesn't make much difference. And the shaking up the walls. OMG. We're all mad!

    I've been Money Tipped!
    THREE dogs. :(,

No running hot water in the house makes cleaning a bit of a PITA.

I cannot wait for a 'normal' situation again.

Ours are confined to one room after being out, the grey is easily dried with a towel the others not. :(.

Have to admit this time of year gets me down with cleaning and dogs.

Normally I keep a mop in a bucket and simply mop each time we go it and out but at, we have concrete for floors and its just not practical, the concrete doesn't mop well or easily at all.

I'm struggling with one! Why no hot water?
