The one you linked to, won't work. Has to be a mifi or travel router. tp-link now do one, as do a few other companies.

Seems vodafone is the best or Etisalat.

Vodafone EG is 150 egyptian pounds for 6gb data. about £13. Don't know cost of sim, plus need to buy mifi or travel modem router. But about £50 upwards to broadband.

    The correct link is here

Look for unlocked Mifi, Amazon are roughly £50 but you can get cheaper on eBay. You then need to buy a data sim when you get there which cost roughly £30 per GB, may be cheaper paying for the hotel Wifi.

    Not a particularly useful post.

    Huawei E5332 £25

    Unlock code £0.99

You can buy one from Vodafone in Egypt (R206) for £39.

Sorry my post displeased you, but who really cares. Pretty sure the OP has a brain of their own and knows how to look for more specific information.

I care. The OP cares, certainly enough to create a thread asking for info and most everyone who posted cares.

So it seems that you are the only one who does not, judging by your lackadaisical 'advice'.

    Let us look more closely....

First of all, the OP did not know much about MiFi and even after your 'advice', chose something completely unsuitable. So to suggest the the OP "has a brain of her own" means to "leave her to her own devices".
    Not very helpful.
The OP clearly needs proper guidance.

Secondly, suggesting that the OP should pay as much as £50 for a 'unlocked MiFi' is hardly in the money saving ethic'. Again, just careless 'advice'.

Thirdly, incorrectly suggesting that the cost of data in Egypt was £30 per GB and that it may be better to use the Hotel WiFi is just altogether unhelpful.

At least with informed opinion, the OP has a better foundation to make an informed decision.

Your post was anything but informed.

If, as opposed to what you state, you do care; why not add to the good advice instead of defending the bad ...or just your ego?

yes the £25 one from tesco is good value and get it unlocked with code from ebay then buy a sim card in egypt and put it in but you may need to change the dongle settings in the dongle menu to make the sim card work or it may just automatically set everything up by itself.

The Settings/Profiles are already contained within the links in my post.
  • Thanks for the helpful replies, can I confirm I've understood them correctly, I buy a mifi in the UK, once in Eygpt, I buy a sim card for the amount of GB I need?
I'm hopeless with technology, in addition, I suffer with MH issues, what may appear simple, I struggle with, may I ask, please be patient, thank you

Buy the MiFi, unlock it and get acquainted with how it works whilst you are still in the UK(including the addition of all the possible Network profiles that you may use).
That way you can hitting the ground running when you reach Egypt. Just need to buy the Data SIM and to add a suitable data package.

Research before you go, so that you are not sold a pup.
  • Ta Nifty, one more question, can I buy any make of mifi or does it have to be a specific make like a vodaphone?

Vodaphone shops are mentioned quite alot within Eygpt, but I don't see other popular makes, Huawei / T-Mpbile / 3 etc., etc.
