Mine would eat pasta until it was coming out of their ears. I like them to eat protein and veg with it so it's not all carbs but Pasta with pesto and chicken and peas. Smoked salmon trimmings and broccoli and creme fraiche, bolognese, sausage ragu, courgette and bacon.

Curries are good, indian or thai, just make them a bit milder and throw in loads of veg. One of mine likes chickpea tagine, the other definitely doesn't. Both like salmon, which always seems to be on offer but are not so keen on plain white fish unless it is in a cheese sauce. I also keep tins of baked beans, tuna and baked potatoes and have eggs for omlettes for quick CBA meals. And frozen pizza for when I truly CBA'd

I agree with the posters above. Unless there is a physical/logistical reason why your children are not able to eat with you, you may be making a rod for your own back by feeding them separately.

These threads have lots of ideas that should give you some inspiration:

Snap! Only time i do different meals are if me and DH are eating out/having takeaway (both rare things!) or i'm cooking something special later on for us if we're having a date night (every other Fri usually).

    K xx
  • It would help to know the age of the kids and the circumstances - there might be a reason why the kids need separate meals. I have always been a stickler for the kids eating the same as us though. Saves time and money and makes them less picky I think!

There are loads of things you could do with mince or chicken breast that my kids would eat endlessly and you could batch freeze: chilli, spag bol, shepherds pie, curry, pasta sauce etc. You could also make hm pizza, fish bites or burgers which you could serve with hm wedges and beans.

YORKSHIRELASS - same as you I really believe in getting them to eat the same as us but its not always possible. On the shifts we work we probably have dinner together about 3 x per week! But I really like to set a good example so I pack as many veg into every meal as I can :)

Our lil one is just over 1 so would appreciate any suggestions on cheap healthy and quick (45 mins or less) meals which can suit 2 adults and a 1 yr old.
