Hmm - I hope it isn't a common problem with that particular model:

Have you (or someone else who might have used it) changed anything in the BIOS settings?
Which version of Windows is it?0 -
As Jivesinger says. The other thread, the OP didn't come back and say if anything else they did. Looks like it may be a HDD but the bios should be checked first.
What general area are you in? If close by I have a spare HDD. See what happens by reading the link and get back to us if anything new occurs. I'm sure closed will be close by (no pun intended) :-)0 -

Oversteer is when you hit a wall with the back of your car
Horsepower is how fast your car hits the wall
Torque is how far your car sends the wall across the field once you've hit it0 -
My Toshiba laptop threw a wobley a while back but not in the way yours has. It just wouldn't switch on. I detached the power and battery and left it like that for half an hour then put it all back together and tried again - it worked. Worth a try.0

could someone explain what the "bios" should say as I can't seem to find them, not sure what am looking for though, know that sounds dense but am clueless when it comes to laptops thanksi came into the world with nothing, and guess what? i still have it!!!:p0

Start the computer and press F2. When the settings screen pops up move along to the "Boot" screen and check that there's a HDD showing there. Then press F10 and come out of bios by selecting do NOT save. If there is a HDD showing, make sure it is at the top of the list. The CD/DVD should be below that, as should USB.0

I've updated on my situation now. I was dealing via pm so stopped putting entries on mse. I was going to update once it was final. Thanks...0
