it does say it isn't £124 for the note but for the admin for filing the note!!!!
We've just done a 'time and motion' excercise in filing a piece of paper. We're planning to offer £2 and going to see if our local pro bono lawyers would like to take it up on our behalf ...

Oh, and my colleague has noticed that our bin lid isn't always shut, and it seems someone is dropping THEIR rubbish into OUR bin!

If I had the technology, I would fit a light activated music player of some description inside the lid, programmed to play a song I remember from Guide camp fires:

"Can't put your muck in our dustbin, our dustbin, our dustbin,
Can't put your muck in our dustbin, our dustbin, our dustbin,
    Our dustbin's full"

  • I typed a letter for my friend offering £35.... begrudgingly ... but I was concerned going too low would be ignored. TS said 'rightfully they can charge for the admin' lol except no other company does and certainly I doubt would charge £124!

Also got another company to start cancellation on their contract. Two down plus anyone who didn't see it before here. I've also noticed it in my local papers so it is worth getting them involved they do seem interested - seen it twice in my local.
Help me to help you :santa2:

Haven't noticed this so far. Not sure what is being put in, it's a colleague who's noticed it might not be our rubbish. We are monitoring for this week and will consider padlocking.

    Oh **** it!

I'm also with this company it seems. They took over 3B Waste last year and are still trading under this name on the invoice. My contract runs until 1st April and I already had a waste transfer note that covered me up until then. I too got the very heavy handed new annual waste transfer note, and have signed it. However, it goes from 1st Jan to 31st December - i.e. the first quarter of it is duplicated and I'm only getting in effect another 9 months cover with them for this annual charge of £124 + VAT.

Can I argue with them that this new waste transfer note I have signed constitutes a new contract (and then get out for next year), or argue that if the contract is a rolling one from March/April, that they should be issuing me with a 12 month waste transfer note that follows one from where the last one expires (rather than overlapping it by 3 months)?

Wish I'd spotted this thread a few days ago!

They always issue the Waste Transfer Notes in January. But if you want out on 1st April, find your contract and read it carefully. My recollection is that it's a 3 month notice period for Waste Tech, and that if you don't give it at the right time, you're in danger of being locked in for another year or worse.

If you've already sent off the WTN, why not follow it up with the letter Robert suggests, saying that you're leaving at the end of your contract and you will therefore pay a proportion? And let us know how you get on ...

    Thanks Sue,

My contract was originally with 3B Waste, which ran from March to April each year. They apparently bought the company last year, and although they are still trading under the same name of 3B Waste, the Head office is now PHS Wastetech.

If the contract is a rolling contract, I still don't think that they should be reissuing me an annual WTN, which only provides me with 9 months additional "cover" since part of it was already covered on my contract with 3B prior to the Wastetech takeover. Surely if they want to realign the start date of my WTN and implement new terms and conditions that 3B never had, they need to be classing this as a new contract with effect from 1st January.

Oooo - I hate getting conned and ripped off by big bullying companies like this:mad:

But the point is that the WTNs NEVER ran in synch with the contracts. They confused me last year: I knew the WTN had come in Jan so I wrote to give notice in September, got a very abrupt letter back saying I couldn't because December wasn't when my contract ended, no clue as to when my contract DID run to, and EXTREMELY rude to me when I phoned to ask!

If Wastetech have not yet issued a new contract, read your existing one carefully and get yourself out as soon as you can!
