OVO overcharging.

Hi,
The energy company OVO have been grossly overcharging my account. During my 2 year contract they have taken out more than a years Gas & Electricity in over payments.
I have contacted them about this and nothing changed. In December they said they were going to return £1500 to my account in 5-6 days and did not.
I have now left OVO and there is £1700 credit in my account.
How do I get my money back? Do we not have any consumer right to stop them from taking whatever they like from our accounts?
Any ideas?

That's unexpected. Ovo Energy usually have really good customer service. Did you make an official complaint?0

If you have let them, how do you know how much credit is in the account?1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?0 -

Then the answer is probably this...
http://www.ovoenergy.com/refundpolicy/
Scroll down to the section where it says "Getting a refund if you're not with us anymore"1. Have you tried to Google the answer?

You have obviously been very lackadaisical with your account as it is very easy to alter your DD online in line with your usage and set uyour own DD levels.
Who is working out cheaper than Ovo?0 -
Answering your questions.
Did you make an official complaint?
I have complained several times over the year and they did not reduce the amount they were taking out.
How much credit is in the account-
I can still log into my account.

I am a working person with a family and am very busy.
I would of thought asking them to reduce the amount once would be enough. I have contacted them several times and nothing changed.
I also have emails where they say they are going to return the excess money by a certain date and again they don't.
Even though I have complained to them recently they did not even return my emails.
Today I have spoken to them again. They apologise etc, apparently I'll get my money back in a week or two.
As a customer it feels as though they can take as much money off me as they like with out impunity and then make it hard as possible to reclaim it. The onus is on me lt's my time and my money that is being used up.0 -
When did you switch suppliers?
When did you receive your final closing statement?1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?

Their company rep on mse-no posts so far since 20110 -
I started switching at the end of December. At the time of switching they said the excess money would be with me in 5-6 days. It never came.
The reason why they now want to delay a further two weeks is so they get the final electricity bill.
It's unlikely I have used more than a years electricity in the last few weeks. Its my money they are making interest on.0 -

Did you read the link I posted?
You won't get a refund until AFTER they send out the final statement. And they won't do that until they get a reading from your new supplier.
Getting a refund if you’re not with us anymore- As soon as we’ve had your final meter readings from your new supplier, and sent you our final statement, just give us a call to get the ball rolling
- Any refund will be with you about 10 working days after that
It's really that simple.
Let me ask again: when did you switch suppliers?
When did you start receiving your electricity from the new supplier?1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
