They don't want you to repay them, they want to make money out of charging you interest...well, that's what the cynical person in me always thinks.:D0 -
It could be worse, while at a meeting with the bank, I was asked conversationally what I did. When I replied risk management, the appalled bank manager said, without forethought, that he hoped I'd a better approach in my professional life than I did to my personal finances. Poor man was mortified when he realised what he'd said.Mortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes. Had to give employment details and salary.
And I felt ashamed. I felt bad that I earn so much and had nothing to show for my employment history - no home, hardly any savings, no investments.
Felt like I was worth so little. And it's my fault.
Not a good day.

Your worth isn't monetary...what's the saying 'I may not be rich, but I'm valuable'Though no one can go back and make a brand new start, anyone can start from now and make a brand new ending0 -

Hi All,
Quite a day! Went into town and here's what I spent:
Crappy brekkie in Costalot (meant to be a treat) - £4.25
Posted a parcel: £3
Cup of tea: £1.05
2 Sheets of nice wrapping paper (use them on top of my bedside locker and chest of drawers to brighten them up, also 'cos I use them as dressing tables): £2.25 (got 10% NUS discount!!)
Packet of biscuits: 49p.
......and change from £12! Good eh! Woooop! Bonus!!!
Except...no, it's not. And today, it's finally hit me. It's not about the money. Not really.
It's all about my attitude.
£11-odd may not seem like a big deal to some (AKA me, pre-Xmas). But when you have such a tiny amount to exist on, you want to slap yourself for spending £4 odd on an un-nice brekkie. That £4 could have gone in my savings.
Am I overreacting?
No. It's NOT about the 400p. It's the attitude towards it. Perhaps I still feel that anything under a tenner isn't 'real' money? That seems about right.
Which is fine if I think like this once every few months. But I now fully get that I thought like this every other day. That's a hell of a lot of 'unreal tenners' that I will never, ever see again.
But OK. I'm going to deal with it. My eyes have been opened this night (who said that? Is it a song? Poem?). Let's change the attitude, skinty. Stop spending these unreal tenners. Lets get them saved, paying off debts.
Lets grow up a bit.
(Oh...and by the way, skinty my love...if those around you still spend what you now feel are wasted tenners then it's none of your business. You just concentrate on you please).
Siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh. Feel quite tired tonight, I tell you.
Thanks for reading xxx2014 Frugal Living Challenge

Hi Annie, nice to hear from you xx
Please don't be too hard on yourself - this forum is a great place to get things off your chest in a supportive way, but then to also receive calm guidance re: your financial situation. Plus there are a great many cheerleaders on here to encourage us to get back up again when we collapse!
Completely understand you feeling cynical but I firmly believe that things really CAN only get better - and when they do, we will have the added advantage of our newly realised positive attitude towards finance!!
Let me know how you're doing and cheers for posting! xxxx2014 Frugal Living Challenge
