There should be a way to filter houses by floor space area!

I use Excel to calculate and compare areas because often 2 houses in same area are similarly priced yet one offers considerable larger floor space than the other! Sometimes EAs don't even bother dimensions of each room.

Also, floor plan should be mandatory. Many houses I have seen and hated the layout. Had the layout been available I wouldn't have even viewed the house!
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

    Definitely agree with floorplan.

I would also like to see an option to filter out bungalows (you click on houses and it brings up both houses and bungalows!) and also to search for houses with land.

I can't believe that, in this day and age, some estate agents don't feel a floorplan is necessary. Unless a house looks stunning from the photos I pretty much ignore these houses.

I think that even for renting they should have floorplans, after all you can still live there for as long, if not longer, than if you were buying.

I've never understood why they don't put floor area on residential property listings as standard in this country - they do in every other country I've ever looked at property listings.

Presumably from the EA's side it's to hide the fact that many properties here are ridiculously small for the number of rooms they contain, but I'm surprised that consumers have never insisted on having this information made available.

And a floorplan should definitely be standard. I think many companies that produce EPCs will also produce a floorplan, so at least they are quite common now.

  • I'd like it to be law, yes law, that the estate agent must measure the garage to the nearest mm. And Loft height. and plan of garden with dimensions (as well as house)

I'd certainly like to filter on whether there is a garage.

Suspect the main reason is making a floorplan takes time. Why bother when you can go pitch for another instruction?

The EPC will give the floor area, the only practical use have I found for an EPC.

Floor plan and area definitely, plus size of garden, if any. Would also like them to say whether properties are ex LA.

I wish it would stop showing house shares as 1/2/3 bed properties, even after trying to filter them out.

I agree a floor plan should be mandatory. Would also be useful for me to filter on single level properties. The filter on "bungalows" also brings up chalet bungalows which are no good to us as we need single level living.
Also agree being able to filter with a garage would be handy.
