just rechecked the councils guidance to make sure i wasnt underpaying ;)
it clearly states that contributions will not be taken from means tested benefit, but only from benefits paid for the purpose of 'care' (DLA?AA) and capital

In case anyone finds it useful.

But in brief summary they can charge for anything over and above income support levels + 25% relative to age, circumstances etc. should they choose to do so.

They cannot take all of higher rate DLA care if they don't provide night services though as an example.

i know how lucky i am!
our social care funding budget rose this year, when everywhere else is being cut.
iy also says that you can have capital of 50k before they ask for an additionalcontribution

:D as long as it makes your life easier that is good.

Maybe your area doesn't have that much demand on Social Care budget it can vary massively from area to area and it can change quickly as well. Densely populated cities have higher demands on them. But so can say seaside resorts with a massively ageing population.

Sorry to say.....but I simply can't understand that. She's losing benefit so how will she be receiving £51.50 a week more if the Severe Disablement premium thru pension credit is lost due to me claiming Carer's Allowance?

    I've confused you - sorry.

What I mean is because her Appropriate Amount has gone down she needs less money to be able to live.

The £51.50 is the net loss.

Put it simply, she will already be getting enough money to live on and now doesn't need Pension credit.

she will lose that premium from her council tax calculation, but she will also lose that premium as income too.

youre doing your usual job and trying to scare people that font know anything about benefits.

    OP...
Andy is a troll who has NO life and seems to spend all his time trying to confuse and scare vulnerable people whilst his own daughters defraud the system.

i suggest you put your efforts into making them do the right thing instead of causing people that are asking for help, more distress than they already have!

Not at all. She already gets £8 GPC based on her receiving the SDP of £59.50.

When that SDP is removed her Appropriate Amount will go down by £59.50.

This means that the GPC award will cease. Her income will be £51.50 over the limit (Appropriate Amount).

This will then have a knock on effect with the council.

I wonder if that explains what the OP said earlier about losing council tax reduction? Although, I thought that people receiving any amount of pension credit, received full council tax support?

When she loses the SDP, she will lose the automatic right to full council benefits.
