One of my spouses has one because of deafness, and says their spouse is as much use as a chocolate teapot when they travel together: can't hear announcements either.

She'll need the railcard to purchase a discounted ticket.

Not true. She can purchase a ticket online without the card but would be expected to produce the card at inspection on the train. As the OP would already be on the train at this point it wouldn't be a problem.

Of course you do, whether asked to show it is irrelevant as long as it's valid. Not sure why you would think otherwise.

Sorry again to disappoint you all, no cults are involved. Getting back on topic ...

And might also need the card to get through the barrier and onto the train if it's a personned barrier. I've never had to show it when putting the ticket into the slot on a barrier, but it could be requested.

Are we talking about buying two separate disabled tickets, independently, btw? I'm not sure if that would be 'visible' on the tickets (I'm sure it would on close inspection): when I buy two tix they both say they are 'DSB', but equally you can surely see they were both bought at the same time and in the same place and in the same way.
