And Baby Makes Three....

Hi
I teach ( don't know if that's the same as you!)
The term assurance cover I have is designed to decrease with the term of the mortgage. My current statement says if I die tomorrow ( optimistically hoping not!) they would pay out £45000 more than I currently owe on the mortgage! It's made me think I should put things in place if the worst should ever happen so people know where these things are and how to claim them. Otherwise I will leave a mess behind and no one wants that!
What a cheerful thought for the end of the day.
Keep on keeping on!

When is your new baby due? I'm currently on maternity leave and finding it not as tough as expected. Like I seemed to spend more when I was working because of travel costs, and save more now I'm off due to being too tired to go out anywhere and my hobbies taking a back seat! Plus having more time at home has meant I've reduced food costs because I can meal plan better and aren't as tempted to nip to the chippy or have a takeaway after a hard day grafting.
Will your OH be going back to work doing the same hours as when she left or will they be reduced?0 -
Hi bextster
I misinterpreted your Carp One comment as Carphone. So no we are not on the same career path.
You are going great though, even if sudden death is not a cheerful thought.

Morning jess
Many thanks for the post.
This is our 2nd little one. The first time we saved £9k. Which covers her shortfall in wages. We didnt use much, but my inlaws helped a lot - they are not in a situation to help this time as they retired to help with childcare. Very selfless and wonderful people.
OH is part time and will go back to that next march.
Many thanks for the advice

Sorry, carp is code for C R A P as the forum won't always allow bad language!
My term assurance basically means I should still owe about £45000 more than I now do. Not bad for 10 years overpaying!

Haha Bexster - I get it now!
I managed to log on to my mortgage website. 7am to 7pm restrictions are truly annoying; and the main reason to leave!
Balance is now £91,700.
I could manage a £1k OP, leaving me two months away from waving goodbye to the £90's.
We nearly managed that achievement just before our wee one was born but we remortgaged to landscape the garden and build a conservatory.
This time will be permanent!!!!Mortgage: 01/02/14 - £108k

Those restrictions are annoying!
Don't know who you are with but there are some good deals depending on your LTV. Is it 12 months you have left on your fixed?
Great news about getting out of the 90s. FLC2 must be nearly here now?

Current provider also owns a few planes, trains and used to have a radio station!
2.59% until next march.
Day off today to have a wee scan - 12bweeks to go!
I fear we will struggle to remortgage as OH pay packet will be very reduced, due to her £1k pay drop on SMP.
We have a 123 a/c so hopefully they will offer a great rate, with cashbackMortgage: 01/02/14 - £108k

Enjoying reading through your thread FLC. Hope you don't mind me joining in. I'm really at the start of a 25-year mortgage having just moved into our home last year. Making small overpayments when I can and trying to keep motivated. :beer:NST 🐢 & MF before 40 🤸0
