  • That is correct. If used frequently the system may pick it up and you should receive a message indicating that if excessive usage is made your data speeds will slow right down.

I used Truephone on my N95 but only using Wifi.

I think that is the point, that if I use all my b/w then I get restrictions. No different than my cable.

I rarely use VOIP as I am not that "mobile" however for times when a friend goes on holiday they could phone me on skype and I don't need to be at home.

Don't think a network will come after me for that and there is always port blocking or in this case speed throttling to keep them happy.
  • Hi

I have an O2 Pay Monthly Simplicity tarriff, have activated £7.50 web bolt on. I am not able to connect fring through this service. I use the O2 Mobile Web settings. earlier with Orange i was able to connect

When i try connecting, it gives me the message: Could not establish connection to the fring network. would you like to start auto search? I then go and select O2 Mobile web again but again the same error.

Any clues how to resolve this?

    Regards
    Nik

I have a Nokia E65 and use Sipgate - mostly for incoming calls only. We have voip adapter linked to our broadband at home so we have incoming calls at home using a local number (01922). Same number then rings my mobile when I'm at work via wireless connection. So in therory I could be on holiday abroad and someone could ring our 01922 number and speak to me on the mobile providing I'm in a wireless hotspot.
Hi - does your Sipgate setup work reliably with the Nokia client - mine refuses to register... I've even put my phone in the DMZ and directly opened all VOIP port ranges to the fixed IP it is always assigned by my router. Still fails to register...

I want to use two SIP providers with my phone - sipgate for incoming, and justvoip or truphone for outgoing, but the problem is that the inbuilt client just seems plain unreliable.
