Another WOW from me!
Amazing progress & plans!
Cheery - has Pips been giving you lessons on listy-pops productivity? - Those lists are as epic as hers!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! :rotfl: sadly, while pippi's epic lists happen every day, mine happen once in a blue moon, usually when i don't plan them in advance... :rotfl:
didn't get too much done this morning as me and mr cheery sneaked off for bunch and wander round the antiques centre :j but i did varnish the door and email stuff to my diploma tutor so that's something!0 -
Well it was Sunday! And your commute is enoooooooooooormous, on the days you do it.
Was it you or Pippi that started the pretty coloured lists? Can't remember now :think:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
No idea KC, lost in the mists of time. But rainbow lists are SO cheerful I don't care who invented them, I shall use them forever anyway :j :j
Today's :money: triumph is FINALLY extracating myself from a 2 year mobile contract which has meant I haven't been able to make calls in my own house for TWO YEARS  Paying for 500 minutes (which I used to use) but have only used about 200 a month for this whole contract, and resorted to using the house phone instead, even to call mobiles.
So (fingers crossed!) now the house phone bill should go down, and I've saved £10 a month for MORE internet, 500 minutes of phone calls that I should actually be able to make, and a rolling ONE month contract that I can get out of whenever I like :j :j
Just need to switch number over...0 -
Goodness me, that was a bit of an effort!
A brief history... Took out a 2 year contract with TalkMobile in 2012. Signal always been crap. Tried to cancel several times at the start (didn't catch it early enough though) but they wouldn't let me. Have rung up several times since and been told to buy a 'signal booster' (which I didn't). Rang 1 month ago to see when contract ran out, told them I wanted to leave because signal was crap in house, they said no problem.
Contract up today so rang for PAC code. Conversation went something like this (edited highlights)
Him: why do you want to leave?
Me: because signal is crap
Him: are you using x phone? [yes] Because I'm not saying you had a crappy deal, but that phone always has signal issues, it's because it doesn't have much internal memory
Me: well I'll bear that in mind with my new provider, thank you
Him: but we can offer you a better deal on a different phone
Me: thank you, but no
Him: yes, but you'd have 14 days to change your mind, and it's the phone that's crap, not us
Me: that may well be true, but I've had 2 years to make up my mind and I've decided to leave
Him: but i've checked your area and you have 97% signal!
Me: yes, I checked too, that's why I took out a contract with you. However, I can't make a call in my own house.
Him: but that's because of the phone
Me: I'm sure it is, but nobody else has mentioned that in the whole time I've been on this contract. I'll bear it in mind with my new provider
Him: we can offer you a deal...
Me: Look. You're making a valiant effort to make me stay, but I'm not going to
Him: I'm not making an effort to make you stay, I'm just explaining why your signal is crap
Me: Well, thank you for explaining that. I'd like my PAC code please
Him: I can give it to you, but you could always try a new deal...
Me: I could, but the longer this conversation goes on the less likely I am to ever come to you again
Good grief, no means no young man! To be fair I was only actually on the phone for nine minutes, but honestly!! I realise he's probably on commission...
Needless to say I got my code in the end, deleted 127 photos off my phone which now LOOKS like it has a reasonable signal although I've not actually tried to make a call on it:rotfl:
However, I don't need a new phone, the new contract is half the price for more internet and doesn't tie me in for 2 years, and quite frankly that conversation alone was enough to put me off!! :rotfl:0 -
Good for you! I hate that pushiness, I really do. Same with double glazing people who come to the house. Love reading that conversation, Cheery, especially your final retort :j:j:j2023: the year I get to buy a car0
-
It did get more and more unbelievable as it went on :rotfl:
And, having deleted all those photos, I just rang my mum to test it out - took me 4 attempts to get put through and I got cut off 3 times and ended up ringing her on the house phone :rotfl: So quite clearly it wasn't JUST the photos to blame!!0 -
Right
Painter is here = £80 for upstairs windows and £40 for the pesky fiddly front door with its millions of windows which I've been putting off all summer. He also knows a plasterer, which is good, as all the plaster has come off the bathroom wall...
Roofer just been too = £40 to fix the tile and will also have a look at the wonky chimney while he's up there to see if he can fix it without scaffolding. He can't get his ladder in without me lopping a bit of a tree down first so will get on that this weekend
I could quite get into this idea of getting other people in to fix stuff :rotfl:0 -
 at mobile provider! Glad you've managed to change though (even though it wasn't them, it was your phone
)
Sounds like you are really cracking on with the house now. Must feel so satisfyingGoals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -
