    What's a race number belt?

Well done you for nipping the inertia in the bud. That's usually what happens to me. But you have taken positive steps. Spending doesn't seem too bad either.

    Good luck at slimming world

    Thanks Starnac :)

Race number belt is just an elastic belt to pin your race number to :D It's just a square of papery stuff with a big number on that I would usually just attach to t shirt with safety pins, but in a triathlon you have to have one on the front (for when you're running) and the back (for when you're cycling), and I wanted to wear a jacket for the bike ride but not the run, and didn't want to be messing around undoing safety pins in the middle of the race! With a belt, you attach both numbers to the belt, and then you can just unclip the whole thing easily :)

    Pic of one here

although mine hasn't got the fancy loops for holding gel things!

Pretty easy to make, but I didn't get round to it, and figured a fiver was worth it :)

Anyway, £5 at slimming world yesterday, and then I went out shopping with the food budget, which reminded us both why I am not usually in charge of the food budget :o:D :rotfl: :rotfl:

In my defence it was a good stock up and all wholesome stuff, giant bags of lentils etc :D

Spent £15 of my own extra food spends too, so I'll count that in my own money.

Today.... has been NSD number 4! :j :j :j :j Very pleased :):):) Was out on fieldwork so paid for work travel (which doesn't count), and took lunch etc with me so nothing bought while out :j :j Popped to al anon meeting tonight but took donation with me out of the envelope so that doesn't count either :D :rotfl:

    :j

    Off to update sig :)

thanks greying :) feels like i'm pretty on top of mindless spending this month - but it also feels like this is the last thing in a long chain - been sorting out bills/joint account stuff forever and that's *nearly* done now so my own frittering is the last thing :j :j

it's felt pretty easy to keep under control this month, but i have no idea if i'll be able to keep it up when the novelty wears off :o :rotfl: :rotfl:

does help having lots of pots though and planning in avance - guess it's a bit like menu planning :D something i've always been rubbish at :D

    Thanks :)

I'm sure I posted earlier but I was on my phone on the train so maybe it vanished!

Anyway - another NSD for me! :j :j :j :j Only things I've spent have been work travel and a cuppa and a taxi that I'll claim for too :j :j :j

So that's NSD number FIVE! :j :j Might actually make my target this month after all :D :j

Going to try for another tomorrow - I'm in the office but have packed lunch etc - we haven't got any fruit but I'll poach a pound or two from the food budget to take for that since it should come from there not my spends :D Other than that, it'll just be work travel, which doesn't count :D

    Thanks folks :):)

And here I am reporting NSD number SIX!! :j :j :j Just work travel today, and since I was out 7am til 8pm I felt NO need to do anything much this evening so I ate tea in the garden, baked some tasty cookie things and am now eating them :D :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Unsurprisngly I find NSDs MUCH easier when I'm working - funny since they used to be the worst! But since I've sussed exactly how much food I need to take to last me 12 hours, and been organised enough to actually take it with me, I've been fine :) Now Mr Cheery has the fod budget, I don't just nip to the shops on the way home either :j :j All works very nicely indeed :):)

I was a bit peckish on the way home tonight but I knew Mr Cheery had made tea so it would be waiting for me, and I didn't want to ruin my NSD so I held off til I got home :rotfl: :j Very wise!

Struggle with NSDs at the weekend, but even if I only manage four a week that's still SUCH a big improvement! :j

Had a quote today for fixing the overflow pipe - considering we snapped it off two years ago :o and since then the water has been running down the outside wall ruining both the wall and the bathroom windowframe, and since the ground is at such a ridiculous angle I'm reluctant to get up there on a ladder (it's near the roof!!), I'm happy with the £95 they've quoted us.

As usual, should have !!!!in done it years ago :o Will I ever learn? Probably not :rotfl: But still - looking forwards not backwards, and it'll be fixed soon! :j

Ah, a question for you all. Today I claimed almost £100 in expenses for the last week  I'm in the middle of a few months of doing FAR more work travel than usual, and while work buys train tickets in advance, I pay for (and then claim) stuff like taxis and buses (and the occaisonal train ticket when I can't order them enough in advance).

I've never had to manage this level of expenses before - they often don't get paid for a good few weeks, sometimes over a month after I've claimed them.

Last month I had to raid the savings account :o but then I got reimbursed £150 at the start of this month and I just left it in the current account - and have already spent £100 of it.

I just worry that in the muddle I'll end up poaching from savings and not putting stuff back :o

So - anyone have a foolproof way of managing?! Separate bank account?!
