Cheery's buttling diary: tea in one hand, plant pot in the other, running shoes on

Hey Cheery - you are definitely on a roll and have this sussed
:D
Unfortunately, I think separate pot/bank account/credit card may be the only way to go - either that or go *kick A* at Vice-Chancellor level and get them to pull their procedures out with regard to paying expenses much quicker - you're promoting the research stream of the place after all.
Have a lovely day, whatever you're up to today.

Sounds like a separate bank account might work.
Are u mainly paying out in cash?
If so you could use a bag/purse float and a wee note book to keep track of spends/receipts and top the bag up from the account when it's paid.
I have a wee notebook with a wee pocket bit in back for my receipts/tickets
A moleskin one - well it's not made of moles but u know the kind.
I often get in a muddle but I keep my receipts in my wee book and can only claim back once a month (this month nearly 600) but I mainly use my cards.
Would a float/book work for you?
Some places issues cards for expenses does your in have that policy? Might be worth finding out but I'm sure u have.Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

Shoppers at mr t were also wearing a fine selection of wooly hats, so it wasn't just me.

cheery I didn't realise your triathlon was last weekend
I thought it was this weekend. Sorry. Sounds like you had fun though.
Maybe speaking to someone to get expenses paid earlier is a good idea. Also a float maybe? Or just keeping a note of where the money came from?Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -
Thanks for all your lovely suggestions
We are such a giant unwieldy organisation that they'll never get paid any earlier - and after all I'm not struggling and so don't *need* them, just getting a wee bit confused:rotfl:
Certainly no expenses cards either - we don't use enough to warrant that kind of thing. I can go months with nothing at all, or a very occasional taxi - just so happens that at the minute there's quite a few taxis :rotfl:
It's always cash (except if it's train fares, which is really rare as the general policy is we book those through work so don't need to claim back).
Sounds like it might be sensible for me to keep a separate purse - take out say £150 from savings to keep as a float and only spend from that purse (without carrying all £150 round with me all the time, of course!). And a wee notebook indeed.
Thank you lovely lot! I knew you'd all know what to do
Gorgeous day here again (Sooooo sorry Pippi!) been sat out all day either in my garden or a pal's. Sun just went behind a cloud for a bit so I came inside in protest :rotfl:
Managed to walk all the way down the little local high street and the ONLY thing I bought was fruit :j :j :j £5.70 but that can come from food budget so (whispers) we MIGHT have managed another NSD - really rare on a Friday! :j :j0 -
seem to have been in lots of (charity) shops today but mostly avoided buying anything :applause:
bought a vest top for £1.50 and a couple of tomato plants from local school fair for £2 (for both) to replace the ones the slugs ate but that was it! :j :j :j
writing everything down seems to have jolted me out of spendy mindset a little :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -

Thanks, we had SUCH a lovely day but it was SO hot! I managed to beat my sister
But only because she walked round it with my nephew :rotfl:
And... I didn't spend a thing!! :j :j :j (well, apart from diesel on the way but that was already budgeted for)
So another NSD! :j :j
Things I need to remember to do though...
Transfer £75 for housey stuff from savings account to current
Transfer £20 for extra diesel from savings
Just so I don't forget!!0 -
Just having a scoot through the bank accounts and had a slight minor panic - why has the joint account only got £29.70 in it?!
Then realised I was looking at the VSP - which has got £29.70 in it, hooray! :j :j :j
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Right - just updated signature to 8 NSDs and £117 from my own funds :j :j :j
Confused myself by not posting last time I updated so had to work it out - MUCH easier if I say when I've done it!
Also done some bank transfers and joint account looking healthy enough to last the month, including some expenses things :j :j :j
Work trip today so all paid for (except a couple of taxis) and so it *might* be another NSD! :j :j
Except it might not:rotfl: I'm struggling with clothes at the minute, having lost about a stone and a half since last summer many of my summery things don't fit and have been flung, I only have one pair of summery shoes (well, two actually but they're both exactly the same :rotfl: ) and feeling a bit like I have nothing to wear now it's hot, especially to work...
So I have a bit of time in town, and I *might* have a minor bimble to see if I can get some different, slightly smarter summery shoes, and perhaps a summery top to go with a couple of skirts.
Struggle with knowing what to wear sometimes!
Anyway - chances are I won't find anything and it'll be a NSD anyway :rotfl:
And now I really MUST go else I'll miss the train!0
