    Working out stuff like that with the salary payment date is important! Good for you :)

    And the gym class! Oh my - sounds very chic ... sort of!

    Morning :hello:

    Much as I don't want to still be in current house until 18th December KC, I confess a part of me would like to have chance to add the extra chunk of savings :o :rotfl: But I remembered that I did also pay off student loan, so I'll still be able to add the extra that I would have been paying for that each month :j

    Don't blame you for choosing the mattress TDQ - a dancing skeleton isn't half as comfortable to sleep on! :rotfl:

    FINALLY got round to doing my expenses claim :eek: £92, so when that arrives it can go straight to the emergency fund.

    Decided I don't like the idea of an 'emergency' fund, so might just rename it the Patchwork Fund again :j Of course, if we actually have an emergency we can use it for that :rotfl: but Patchwork Fund sounds more cheerful I think, and who knows, one day I might be in a position to have a patchwork life again :o :rotfl:

    Extra chunks of savings are always good, and of course, you've already got a monthly extra chunk after paying off your student loan early - which is amazing, by the way!

    Even more amazing is the reapperance of patchworkiness! So much nicer than multi income, or multi thread or whatever.

    And what you're doing is so important - the way the age to receive the state pension keeps creeping up, making your own arrangements becomes a real priority.

    Fortunately I pay into a decent works pension KC, and Mr Cheery can draw his full works pension in 10 years, so neither of us will be desperately waiting for the state one, fortunately!

    Just rang the building society for an update - solicitor sent them the letter they required on Friday, they sent it to their surveyor on Tuesday, surveyor updated the valuation and sent it back to the lender on Wednesday, and now we just have to wait for the underwriter to look at it and make a decision. Woman said they allow 2-3 working days, but given they originally said they'd get back to us yesterday, I'm hoping we might hear something before the weekend...

    I've got a big deadline at work on Tuesday that requires a fair bit of thinking and writing and it is SO difficult to put all this out of my mind for long enough to concentrate :o:o

    Keep reminding myself I HAVE to do my work properly - we can't afford for me to be sacked any more! :eek: :eek: :rotfl:

    Well, needless to say we didn't hear back before the weekend :mad: I even rang the building society myself to check at about 7pm on Friday night but nope - 'Monday at the latest'... Aarrgghh!

    Anyway, the sun is shining, I am refreshed after extra time in bed, and Mr Cheery has gone off to visit his family so I need a plan so I don't just fritter the day away...

    Some things I'd like to do...

    HOUSE
    * tidy kitchen
    * washing up
    * tidy living room
    * hoover downstairs
    * clothes away in bathroom and bedroom
    * hoover upstairs
    * clean bathroom
    * clear bed in spare room in preparation for friend staying later in the week

    ONLINE
    * blog post
    * next bit of online course
    * some work on my diploma thing
    * YNAB

    GARDEN
    * quick pop outside to see if anything needs tidying up
    * take some pictures while the sun is shining!

    OTHER
    * nice long walk
    * friend possibly popping round later

    That's plenty for one day! My friend is popping in mid afternoon, and I wanted to get some house stuff done but the weather is just SO nice I'm tempted to just pull on walking boots and get out there RIGHT NOW before yesterday's grey drizzliness returns :eek:

    So much for "Monday at the latest" - some other nonsense has come up now (as i predicted) so we now have to wait til Wednesday again, and potentially til NEXT Monday, since they give themselves 2-3 working days to turn around everything, even thigs that could be solved with a quick phone call.

    Have discovered this smiley on the 'waiting to exchange' thread which is coming in very handy :wall: :wall: :rotfl:

    Everyone else is ready and my buyers have actually been into the estate agents to chase us today :o I don't know how to make the building society go any quicker! Good that they"re still keen though :j

    Have ordered a survey today too - wish we'd done it weeks ago but we were waiting for the mortgage offer first... good job we didnt wait to instruct the solicitor too like we were advised to :eek: Obviously there"s a chance it'll all fall through but in the grand scheme of things...

    House is same age as our current one (130 years) so I'm imagining in a similar condition - as long as there's no subsidence or major structural issues we'll go ahead regardless and sort out the rest ourselves.

    Also want to go back for a second visit to do some excitable measuring :D again, was waiting for the mortgage offer... will try to time it for just after the survey.

    No other money saving news. Mr Cheery came home from family visit with some scavenged food someone was throwing away :money: perfectly good butternut squash, some packets of porridge etc :j

    Argh, Cheery, it just goes on, doesn't it - a visit to measure things might be a good idea politically too - your buyers might get quite nervous at a survey *now*, after all this time. It can be reassuring to them that you're just doing it to have some idea of the list of jobs :rotfl: which is actually what my survey on this place became.

    ROFL Cheery if you want to find a link for that head-banging smiley and post it into the other place I'll add it in there if you like! It'll make a change from fingers crossed! :rotfl::rotfl:

    It does feel as though there is starting to be at least *some* progress now though - and yes a measuring up visit might be a good plan as it will underline that you definitely still want to go for it and you're not stringing them along!

    Thanks folks.

    KC I did indeed get a slightly shirty email from seller's estate agent about the survey... :o but have hopefully reassured them now (I think!) We'll hopefully plan a visit for next week when work is quiet.

    Tiny bit of news today - our new house is now apparently considered 'acceptable' by the mortgage lender :j :j so hope to have an actual offer shortly :j :j Will believe it when I actually see it of course... :rotfl:

    Someone at work just brought be a free biscuit :j :j
