Well done Cheery, you've come up with one workable solution already. Who knows, by being in a different environment, maybe other possible solutions will occur to you. And, afterall, maybe the 'professionals' (*ahem*) may yet have found a solution for you.......
I agree with Pippi, try not to let it ruin your time away. Time away may yet provide the solution....... :kisses3:

Yes indeed - our brokers 'appeal' may yet be successful, in which case we can then decide to keep our savings :j But let's see what Monday brings
Still not left the housebeing very lazy this week :rotfl:

Oh cheery I find the whole process so frustrating. I know they have to do their checks re affordability, but seriously! When we remortgaged last year we wanted to borrow an extra £25k for some home improvements. They said no, we couldn't afford it. That despite DH having a job he didn't have when we got the mortgage 2 years before and the value going up by about 15%. When I queried it, I was told it was right, the could lend us additional £100k but only if we moved to a more expensive house  (no issue with ltv without current one so no issue with extra there)
We left it and reflected for a few weeks as it affected our plans, but when we went back the advisor (different one) saw the rejection for additional funds and said it was wrong and shouldn't have been rejected did we want it :rotfl:
So, what the purpose of the waffle :rotfl: - well I would appeal it as you might be suprised by the outcome. Hope it's sorted soon.
Hols sound amazing btwbread, cake, beer, pretzels and pancakes what's not to like :rotfl:

What a fiasco purplefairy! Honestly, its a wonder anything ever gets done sometimes, it really is :eek:0

So, day what are we up to? 4?
€1 milk
€14 bus passes
€11 pancakes
€5 coffee
= €31, total so far €145
Maybe we'll make it within our spending money after all... :j
Jolly day today. Everyone much more cheerful after my inspired paying-off-student-loan idea this morning :j
Hung around the house then ambled out to a fabulous (and free) immersive somethig-or-other experience, run by a camera company in a giant warehouse, lots of light and sound and they loaned you a camera (for free!) Then gave you the memory card you used to take pics (also for free). Most fun :j
Then a brilliant pancake while sheltering from a bit of rain, tea in a cafe by the river, and now we're at some kind of multicultural three day music competition thing - also excellent fun :j
Very tired though. Walked 12,000 steps today and we're nowhere near home yet. Currently in the interval but am guarding my seat with my life :rotfl:
Friend who is staying in our house is also having a great time so all good :j0 -
Well, we have made it to the airport in one piece :j although we are now sat on the floor in a windowless corridor waiting for the gate to open. Sadly these seem to be the actual facilities as there are queues of people doing this at every gate
Miraculously, we managed to stay within our spending budget - *just* We shall be returning with a €10 note (which I will change and add to the house fund) and we had €2.70 in change which we spent on a €2.65 bottle of water
Yesterday we had a laztly morning, then wandered about for about four hours looking at the gallery on the east side of the wall, and a couple of second hand markets. Turns out German tat is very similar to English tat :rotfl:
Got a small picnic which should last us til we get home which should be about 1.40 English time :j
Had a Most Excellent time and lovely to see our friends :j feel like Ive had a good mix of touristy and everyday stuff. We went back to the band competition thing last night which is something wed never have done if we were there by ourselves so very jolly to have locals as a guide :j
Quite ready to go home now - although not ready to go back to work in the morning :eek:0 -
:rotfl::rotfl: at German tat being like English tat! :rotfl::rotfl:
It always feels to me like Airports get you out of the nicer areas as quick as they can and dump you ion a corridor - I spent a bit of time myself in one at Belfast on sunday evening!
It really does sound like a fabulous trip - I'd quite like to see Berlin I think - particularly the old Eastern side.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

£100k barrier broken 1/4/25SOA CALCULATOR (for DFW newbies): SOA Calculatorshe/her0 -
It was really interesting actually, and our friend was very knowledgeable so I increased my pitiful knowledge of that period and place no end. Going to read up more now I think. So interesting that the line of the wall is traced through a lot of the streets just by a row of cobbles or something. Once you know what to look for, you can see it everywhere, dividing roads and communities.
I also hadn't realised (see just how ignorant I am) that in many places the wall wasn't just a *wall* but two walls with a large area of other barriers, dog runs etc in between. Became much much harder to escape as the years passed. There are certain places where you can see the routes of escape tunnels laid in metal into the pavements etc too. The open air free museum was really moving.
Not much to report today. Spent £2 on some satsumas and dried fruit and nuts (which I completely forgot about until now - idiot!) - they'll do me snacks for the week in work. Friend had some Belgian bread so I made a very tasty cheese and cucumber sandwich for lunch.
Did a Prolific survey for 85p. Up to £4.13 with another £3 odd waiting for verification.
Oh, and I just had a call from the mortgage broker (admin people, not the actual broker who I'm starting to think may be dead or a figment of my imagination) - it seems the building society are willing to lend us the full amount we asked for if I can provide proof of the remaining student loan balance and the funds to pay it off :j
Needless to say that was all swiftly emailed over, and I hope to receive a positive answer tomorrow :j :j Although I'm not holding my breath :rotfl: :rotfl: and there are still MANY hurdles to overcome - not least the house valuation which hasn't happened yet... but at least once this bit is ticked off I'll feel like we're actually bloody getting somewhere! :T0 -
Hooray for common sense and things getting sorted. Hope you enjoy a lovely evening me dear.
Welcome home!
XOXOXOTotal debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

Hoorah indeed :j
Had a lovely evenibg chatting to sister on phone, used up leftover takeaway in a kind of tea concoction thing, then did a bot of urban hiking in the dark with Mr Cheery in search of the perfect drink - didn't fond it but we did have a good tour of the local off licences and it was a lovely evening out there :j
I ended up with some kind of elderflower cider, and him with some kind of local beer, and with my 10% co op discount it came to £3.60 for both :money:
Some impressively ludicrous "Co op style reductions" in the Co-op tonight. Cauliflowers reduced from £1.09 to 98p. Really?? And salads £1.70 to £1.50. Is it worth wasting a sticker?!
They did have some decent bread reductions tonight, but since I onoy have one shelf of freezer at the minute, and as friend left a giant loaf of Belgian rye bread, we left the bargains for someone else...
Must sort out YNAB tomorrow. Pippi reminded me MOT is due soon. And I just thought of something else financial but it's gone - drat!!0
