  • Oh Cheery, that IS rough. As you say, the information was provided to everyone from the get go.

I have no experience (recent) of mortgage applications, so know that I'm not au fait with how they work things out.

I know it would be all I could think about too, if it were me - regardless of where I was in the world :(

Fingers crossed for you and MrCheery that the area manager pulls it all back on track for you.

I have enjoyed reading about Berlin though, so thank you for updating, even when your heart and mind must be somewhere else.

    Thank you lovely ladies :kisses3:

I was awake in the night fretting about it all, most unusual for lellme as I am normally a very good sleeper... Fingers crossed we can work it out...

Distracting ourselves this morning with a trip to the local supermarket :D As you know, Mr Cheery is a big fan of supermarkets at the best of times, and so this was a proper treat :D and then on to a lovely little bakery for some bread :j

Anyway, I only popped in to say I had an email this morning to say it's TEN YEARS since I started posting on this forum   I didnt think 7600 posts was that many... but it's two a day, every single day for 10 years :o :rotfl: I don't half waffle on :o :rotfl: :rotfl:

Thought you might be :( But know that nothing that I could say could make it any different for you :( Still got fingers crossed that it all works out how you need it to.

Oooh, a chance to explore shops in other countries :j Hope you get some goodies - with wonderful names, if not wonderful ingredients :D

Oh Cheery! That is so horrible, sorry they've put this stumbling block in your way. It's insane to think they'd lend you less! And very unimpressed with your adviser, thats very unprofessional of him.

Burgers and pancakes. Burgers and pancakes. The only way to cope.

Thank you again you lovely lot :kisses3: your wishes and support really do mean a lot :o

An odd day here. Nice leisurely breakfast, and a trip to the supermarket as I said :D

Then our friend gave us a walking tour of his area kf Berlin, and I learned more about the wall as we criss crossed back and forth. Gosh I was (and undoubtedly still am) SO ignorant  :o this trip has been quite an eye opener :o

Had an email from admin person at mortgage broker - broker is making some kind of case for special treatment because of our low loan to value ratio. Er, how come we NEED special treatment when we only applied for the lower amount of the decision in principle, have a regular, well paid job, no credit card or other debt (apart from this bloody surprising been-there-all-along bloody student loan  ), perfect credit rating, no defaults or late payments EVER?

Tried to ring, but admin people clearly are under instruction to fend me off and again refused to let me speak to broker, saying they'd ask him to ring. When he still hadn't at 4pm I sent a stern email tk his direct line saying how concerned I was both by the situation AND by the fact that I had been requesting a call from him for several days and hadn't received one.

Needless to say I had no response, and obviously everything is now closed for the weekend  NOT impressed and even if this does all turn out for the best they will NOT be getting a good review from me  Is it really so difficult to make a five minute call to reassure someone? Really??

Maybe he's not even been in the office all week and they're trying to hide it!

Hey ho. Trying to let it go over the weekend but it's not exactly relaxing. Our friends are being absolutely spiffing - just the right combination of support and distraction, sympathising and allowing us to wallow, making us tea and giving us history lessons :D

    Anyway, today's spends

€20 contribution to food, bread etc
    €2 biscuits :o
€11 lunch and tea and cake at the Turkish market

    Day 3 total : €32.

Stayed in tonight thank goodness. Walked over 17,000 steps and too exhausted to go anywhere!

No idea what's planned for tomorrow. Researching mortgage options I suppose  Yawn.

Whose idea was it to move house again?!
  • Hey lovely I have nothing to add just sending good vibes and positive virtual boots up mortgage folks bottoms. How very vexing. Try not to let it ruin your time away.

    XOXOXO
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:

    Thank you lovely lass :kisses3:

I am feeling more sprightly this morning :j amd have in fact solved all our problems by realising that we could just... pay the damn student loan off...

Only got about £6000 left I think, can do that from savings then send Mr Cheery down the metaphorical pit to build them back up over the next six months or so.

I *know* Martin always says don't bother to pay student loans off... and I do agree with him - but if it makes such a difference to affordability and our savings are barely earning any interest anyway, then in this case I think it makes sense...

Would also free up £170 a month that I'm currently paying before I get my wages which could either rebuild stash or overpay the damn mortgage...

Yawn. All this is extremely boring. I can't see why people move house frequently. I intend to stay firmly put once we've moved this time! :o

Anyway, sun is shining and everyone else is still asleep (or at least in bed) so I am going to make another cup of tea and lie with the balcony doors open reading my book :j :j
