No probs RT, I love it when people retire, especially when they're pleased about it!
Good tip retiredandskint :j I do indeed do that, but unfortunately they do need washing at some point:rotfl:
Mr Cheery patiently showed me how to do it properly and I'm trying to be all zen-like about it...
Dashing off to work in a min - I'm in the town centre today so a different walk and it's a lovely morning for it, don't want to have to resort to the bus!
Things to be thankful for today...
* Christmas tree! :j :j :j Wasn't sure this was going to even get put up this year  living room has been chock full of boxes for weeks now, but Mr Cheery has moved them all and it's nice and clear now :j Also tree itself has lost a leg, but with much effort last night Mr Cheery has fashioned a new one from a bit of wood
* fairy lights - I love fairy lights :j Couldn't find ours yesterday so we bought some new ones (reduced to £5) - and then found the darn things in the cellar. Some of them even work! :rotfl:
* we realised yesterday that we've NEVER bought baubles for our tree  My family is very crafty and we are given tree decorations that they have made, and we have a HUGE collection of ancient old fashioned baubles, but we've never actually bought any. Hence, yesterday we splurged on these:

which are making us extremely amused :rotfl:
Right, best dash else I'll end up on the bus!0 -
Hee hee - cute bobbles - what a giggle! - no wonder they leave you amused!
We've put up a small potted tree - about 2 ft high in a 10 inch pot - very festive - Somehow I've got many baubles, these will be strung up with ribbon from the curtain poles.:D4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! How very festive RT :j i love baubles
fortunately Mr Cheery shares my penchant for over-enthusiastic decoration of the tree
Trying to be mindful (relatively) of spending in preparation for uber frugal month... In town today so brought a drink, satsumas and sultanas from home. Got given a home made mince pie in firat meetingso squirrelled it away for later :j
Met a friend for lunch (not :money: but we did get a free cuppa with itand just had a sandwich, nothing fancy).
Just sat in cafe in case a friend was able to turn up (he hasn't) but since it's work cafe I cheekily didn't order a drink and just sat amd ate my mince pie instead
Off to meet someone else in advance of next meeting - meetig her in a cafe and won't be able to avoid tea this time but at least I won't be wanting a cake
Getting there...:rotfl:

And, as usual, it's quite clear where most of my unnecessaey spending happens!!

Evening :hello:
Gosh I'm tired (and a teensy bit grumpy) this eveningWalked over 18,000 steps back and forth today, which for me is somewhere around 7-8 miles  But I did sneak in some Christmas shopping, think I've broken the back of it now :j :j :j
So. Some frugal(ish) things I'm thankful for tonight:
* Mr Cheery, for acquiring sausages and making giant Yorkshire puds so we could have sausage and mash and pud and green beans and gravy for tea :j One of my favourite meals :j (not least because I was able to make a sneaky pancake with the leftover pud mix :j )
* We managed to get a bit of DIY done this evening :j Mr Cheery has very nearly finished shaping the new bathroom door and only didn't attach it cos it got a bit late for banging and drilling. Only two days without a bathroom door - good job there's only the two of us! :rotfl: I also put undercoat on the (black) kitchen skirting board - one wall at least. Involved a bit of furniture moving and a LOT of dusting :rotfl:
Tomorrow I'm at a work event so FREE LUNCH (and snacks, and wine reception, I believe!) :j :j my little ziplock bag (wih satsumas and sultanas) came in handy today for holding my mince pie so I've kept it in the bag in case of any snack leftover opportunitiesMy new favourite tip if you work anywhere where leftovers are often available (which I do, and I often don't take full advantage!)
Right, must go to sleep... night night0 -

My new favourite tip if you work anywhere where leftovers are often available (which I do, and I often don't take full advantage!)...
...ziplocs in handbags & pockets - tupperware in desk drawers - are you telling me this is not normal behaviour? - I get laughed at often but leftover cheese & grapes from work functions always makes it home to our freezer drawer!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! Good work RT
Mr cheery often finds himself working at weddings at the end of the night so a fair proportion of thr buffet cheese often ends up in our freezer..
Not much to swipe at work event today. Did consider a fried egg butty this morning but the yolks were runny so I just ate one instead :rotfl: pudding after lunch was mini cheesecake and other uncarryable items - most vexing! :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
I'm imagining you like a sort of human squirrel now, tucking foodstuffs away for future consumption!
