    Voting, boating, it's all good :D :j

You won anyway - I bunged all the cash stuff in as one lump sum, and just itemised the stuff from the bank. Which was most of it :rotfl: Think it's all come out now though - looks like our few days away cost us approximately £525    Over £300 of that was accommodation and travel, and the rest was clearly just 4 days of two people eating out twice a day plus cake stops, cinema and charity shopping :o:o

Still, much needed and we didn't go into debt for it at least. I am SO grateful that we can do these things every now and then. It's not something I take for granted AT ALL.

And I do love a pre-Christmas trip to the seaside :j In fact, we've gone literally a few days before Christmas for the past couple of years now, just for a night, and it's been lovely :j Must get on the case with my shopping so I'm all ready in case we do that again :j

So. Just did YNAB again today so all caught up. Payday tomorrow so I shall have to replenish various bits that I swiped to pay for holiday :o This is the issue when you plonk a lump sum straight into inaccessible savings at the start of the month - if you then go and get all spendy (which, of course, the idea is that you *don't*) then you have to do a lot of shuffling :o :rotfl:

Still, apparently I have some kind of backdated, nationally negotiated payrise arriving tomorrow :j Can't imagine it'll be much, but a pay rise (especially a backdated, undeserved one) is always nice :j :j

Not much else to report. Bought a new lipstick this morning - most unlike me :o but I've got a bright red coat at the minute and it's making me want to wear red lipstick, which I've *never* done :rotfl: I've only got a lip gloss, which wears off at the slightest opportunity, and a kind of orangey lipstick, which I don't like. Opted for a pretty cheap one and it's not bright red, but I'm happy to wear it for work :j

Ooh, and my boots arrived :j But sadly they don't fit - I'm usually somewhere between 5 and 6, these are a 6 and HUGE on me. Ankles are REALLY wide sadly too, which I don't like - I have quite shapely ankles and like to show them off :rotfl: Double zip thing is quite fiddly, but that might be because they're new and stiff.

I actually didn't think they were particularly wide round the calf. My legs aren't dead thin, but I don't usually need wide fitting calf boots, but could only just do these up on the narrower setting and I wasn't even wearing tights! That in contrast to baggy ankles was a definite no for me - but maybe if your legs were a different shape?! I could do the wider setting up with my jeans tucked in and a bit of room to spare though. They seemed nice quality, just a shame about the ankles!

So they're going back for a refund. Can't just write the address and take to the post office, have to print a label (and my printer has been trying to install new software for over an hour now) and take it to (apparently) either the newsagents or the garage :rotfl:

Right, enough waffling, time for another cup of tea and some photo sorting I think :j
  • Can't beat a red lippy for a good impulse buy! :T I just never wear lippy any more - lip balms and glosses, but I've fallen out of love with actual lipstick. Boo to the boots not fitting, too. I'll cross them off the list for myself too then - baggy ankles definitely not a good look, and if the standard zip only just did up on you, it ain't going NEAR my "traditionally built" calves, I can bet! :rotfl:

Hurrah for a payrise too - and right before Christmas and immediately after a holiday has got to be good timing!

Hurrah indeed - turned out to be £75 after tax which is better than a kick in the teeth :j :j That's backdated since August I think so actual monthly amount will be smaller, but still cheery :j

YNAB sorted and funds allocated for next month :j Patchwork fund hasn't had quite the usual dollop added to it, what with holidays, Christmas (I've been poaching bits from the Christmas fund for the last few months, oops!) and I've plonked a good bit into the decorating fund as this is the last final push now. But the amount is still building nicely, and I've got £120 of expenses to come fairly soon so I'll put that straight in there too.

Must get back into the habit of looking BEFORE I spend... :o

Right, off to wrap up - it's cold and rainy and grey out there...

    Evening chums

Hope you're all good :) Cheery weekend here which has been good in view of the glumness of late (still a bit of glumness, but cheerfulness too). A mix of friends, Proper Evenings Out, crafting-type activities, exercise, cafes, and a bit of DIY :j :j A lovely mix :j :j

Tonight I have painted undercoat on the door frames on the landing (turning them from a rather alarming royal blue to a more sedate will-be-white-when-the-top-coat-is-done). House is starting to look less and less like ours at every turn, which is both *good* and also slightly disconcerting :rotfl: :o

Anyway, the most important thing to report is that I have FINALLY got round to painting my nails :j :j Both toes AND fingers :j :j This is only momentous because it's actually been on my rolling to do list since, er, 26th September :o   :rotfl:

I've gone a nice shade of 'deep wine' (more like 'deep whine' at the minute :rotfl: ), and have also dyed my hair some shade of 'chocolate' or something. Trying to make myself feel like a relatively normal person again :o

Nowt much else to report. Not been particularly thrifty, nor particularly spendy. Paid for tickets for last night's event, (oops, and also had a takeaway too :o ) but avoided going to the cinema today, and just spent £2 in the DIY shop (£1 of which was on chocolate :rotfl: ). Friend made me lunch, and we munched our way through an assortment of cake, biscuits and chocolates while having a good old catch up :j

Nothing much planned for this week - my mum's visiting on Sunday and there's a little local Christmas market on that we can walk to which will be nice (might get her to help me plant some bulbs in the garden too if I haven't got round to it - this full time work malarkey doesn't leave much daylight for gardening at this time of year! )

Right, best get the second coat on my nails :j
  • :rotfl::rotfl: at "Deep Whine" - sounds lovely anyway, and the hair too - brilliant!

Must be slightly odd living in a house that's started to feel as though someone else lives there? Guessing it all helps when the end result is to want to move out, though!

We had royal blue doorframes for a while in the hallway of the last place we lived. Not convinced it's an experiment I'd repeat. :D

Ha, no, not sure I'd repeat the royal blue door frames either :rotfl: although they were here long before I was! :D they looked much better when the walls were painted 'peacock' - when the walls changed to' soft cream' it was just All Wrong.

And yes, we are aiming for wanting to move out :D Saw some ace houses today but sadly they're all just rather too far away... there's always a compromise...

(Unless you're some kind of millionnaire, I suppose. But since I'm not... mind you, they probably find plenty to moan about too...)

Had a hair cut today :j first time sice October last year  Looks SO muchbetter. Found a new hairdresser, didn't reprimand me for cutting it myself, and she was dying her own hair at the same time (I didn't have appointment, just walked in), so she was covered in gown and hair dye too :rotfl: and it only cost £7!! :money: might even go there again :j :j

Had tea (pizza, sorry Greying....) and now off to see the new Harry Potterish film :j So excited :D not usually me who wants to go to the pictures but this one's definitely my idea :D

(Is it weird to take a hot water bottle into the cinema? Don't care :D )

Well, I very much enjoyed the new Harry Potter-ish film :j :j Don't often WANT to go to the pics (it's usually Mr Cheery's doing) but this was my idea and we had a grand old time :D

And yes, I did take my hot water bottle :D Incidentally, in the day I'd bought one of these type of bags:

    Drawstring bag

It was just £3 and I was tempted because I was SICK of trying to carry my few small purchases in one hand and grapple with a brolly at the same time :o Anyway, turns out it's PERFECT for putting a hot water bottle in, and you can even wear it under your coat and have a hot water bottle on your person ALL THE TIME and nobody can tell (if your coat is loose fitting enough :j :j :j

I can't tell you how excited I am about this new discovery :D :rotfl: :rotfl:

Not much to report today, just been at work all day. Ate stuff from my work stash, in fact, gosh, have I actually had an unintentional NSD?! :money: :j :j

Had a lovely tea :j veggie sausage, potato wedges, peas and gravy :D Most jolly, very satisfying, and Mr Cheery had bought me a Freddo to have for pudding too :j :j

Just demolishing a cuppa, and then I'm going to go and do a bit of gloss painting for half an hour :j

    Hope you're all good :)

    Evening chums :hello:

    Hope all is good :)

Just popping in to report that I finally received a gift card from the shop that sold me an empty box several weeks ago - £20! :j :j Original thing I tried to buy was £45, thing I ended up with was £60, so not a bad deal :j :j

    Hope you're all good :)

    Evening chums :hello:

Not much to report. ANOTHER filling fell out today  (well, er, I say 'fell' out, but I was vigorously chewing a rather solid pen lid at the time :o:o ). Back to the dentist on Friday, yawn.

Just removed the stair carpet  Quite possibly should have cleaned it first, as I am now utterly filthy :o:o :rotfl: But I'm only taking it up to paint the skirting, then I'll have to put it back again in a few days. And it was too late to hoover by the time I started, and our hoover is being a bit useless at the minute (on account of having hoovered up so much plaster dust and crap), and, well, I couldn't be arsed is basically what it boils down to :rotfl:

Of course, now it's far too late to do anything like sanding or painting, so I'm just going to sweep the steps, give myself a good wash and go to bed :rotfl:

ooh, and in the process of removing the carpet I found 12p :money: :rotfl:

So in fact "saved for House Move - £8420.12"! :rotfl::rotfl:

Well done on your wrangling of the stair carpet - and god luck for re-fitting it. :T

Boo to the fillling/dentist though. Is some of it that they were all put in originally within a short space of time and so are all now reaching the point where they need replacement at the same time?
