What a very small list :eek::eek:
Best of British, Cheery :j2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
...sneaks on to say...
...my YNAB is up to date too...:j:j:j
OH got paid yesterday & I don't get paid until Monday so for the weekend our budget is totally messed up - can't fully budget for next month so no money shifting possible!4 YEARS 10 MONTHS DEBT FREE!!! (24 OCT 2016)(With heartfelt thanks to those who have gone before us & their indubitable generosity.)...and now I have a mortgage! (23 AUG 2021)New projection - 14 YEARS 8 MONTHS LEFT OF 20 YEARS (reduced by 16 mths)Psst...I may have started a diary!0 -
Shall I tell you what I actually did??
:rotfl:
- ran 5 miles
- ate porridge for lunch
- cleaned bathroom and had a shower
-wandered round the charity shops and had tea andcake in a cafe with Mr Cheery
- got the bus into town and bought a new gps watch
:rotfl: not quite sticking to the list! :rotfl:
Pleased with my watch purhase :j old one was dead fancy, bought it second hand but didn't use all the features and now it doesn't work at all.
Found a much simpler store brand one I was happy with, walked to get t from the shop rather than ordering online, they had the previous model on sale - that hadn't been on the website :j
Faffed round in the shop for about 45 mins on the internet and with the bloke at the counter tryig to figure out the exact difference.
One I'd planned to buy was £65, old discounted one was £60, but included a heart rate monitor I didnt want, and it turned out they had one of the old ones wothout a HRM that I got for £45 :j :j
Celebrated by replacig my cycling gloves fo £5
Best thing is this came out of my £2 (I did actually pay all in £2 coins :rotfl: :rotfl: ) so it doesn't touch the budget, as I take them out when I put them in my special jar:j :j
On this occasion it was worth not buyig online :j
Ofcourse I then wandered back through town and bought various unnecessary thigs so maybe I didn't save that much overall but at least I also have some more food too :j :rotfl: :rotfl:0 -
Ha - slightly less pleased with my watch purchasing now I've got home and realised THERE'S NO WATCH IN THE BOX  :rotfl: :rotfl: Turns out they've sold me the box from the display watch, which shouldn't have been in the cupboard :rotfl:
Yawn. So now I have to head back into town to collect the damn thing. If my pesky car worked it'd be a 20 minute round trip but as the bloody thing wouldn't start on Friday and the battery seems completely dead, looks like I'm going back on the bus...
A lesson for you folks - always check in the damn box before you leave the shop!!0 -
 they wouldn't give me the display one that should have been in the box (in case it didn't work), so I ended up with the same model but with an extra thing I didn't really need, and having to give them £15 more for the privilege
Might drop them an email... I don't do very well at being assertive in shops^o) :rotfl:

And also Cheery - they put you on the spot - knew you wanted a watch and wouldn't give a bit of grace for their error. They could have split the difference at the very least - cover your bus fare!
Greying XPounds for Panes £7,305/£10,000 - start date Dec 2023
Grocery Spend August 2025 £268.51/£300
Non-food spend August 2025 £15.55/£50
Bulk Fund August 2025 £13.50/£100 -
Indeed. Bus fare was only £2! :rotfl: Guy seemed to be willing to give me 10% but the till wouldn't let him - I've politely suggested they might want to give their staff the facility to do that (and I may have also mentioned the two young members of staff who were chasing each other round the shop while I was there and one of whom tried to hide behind the poor guy who was serving me!)
Can't imagine it'll make any difference but hey ho.
Still, I'm not exactly stressing - connected the HRM and I can tell you I'm currently at 66bpm which is pretty normal resting rate for me so clearly I've not wound myself up too much :rotfl:
Tea is in the oven :j Bought some mushrooms to make a pasta thing but after all that palaver I'm tired and have just shoved some wedges and veggie sausages in the oven, and done some green beans in the microwave, and I'll pour a load of instant gravy over the topPerfect tea and not much washing up

That's not acceptable behaviour from the shop! I'm glad you're not stressed about it, but that all happened because of their error in not packing the watch into the box during the original sale - you could have some assertiveness practice in the email2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Darn it, I was CONVINCED I'd posted in here the other morning! Maybe I was on my phone and didn't press the right buttons
Sorry!
Sadly KC I fear my email was not very assertive eitherat least it hasn't elicited a response and it's been 5 days now! :rotfl: But then I read it back this morning and it didn't actually request a response, just said I was giving them some feedback...
Hey ho. I used the watch the other day (and the heart rate monitor I wasn't going to buy) and I'm actually pretty happy with it :j Obviously it's not as fancy as the old one - but then it's a quarter of the price the old ones go for new  Who needs fancy anywayAll good
Been all spendy again tonight tooBought some knee high boots a couple of months ago, just from a cheapy shop for about £20. But I do SO much walking that they've had it already  I do wear them pretty much every day, and walk probably 4-5 miles a day, so they've probably done over a couple of hundred miles  but the coating on the top has started to peel away, and they just *slouch* to a ludicrous degree, there's a big lump sticking out of the side of one, and it's quite impossible to wear them without jeans now as they just sag too much.
Anyway, footled around for a proper leather pair that looked pretty sturdy, and that I can resole (and polish!) as necessary, and found these
cheerful boots
(actually, it was the same pair but on eb*y for £35, still new). £200 outside the clearance sale apparently  But do these places ever actually sell any at that cost??
Anyway, fingers crossed they'll do me for the rest of the winter at least (and that they FIT) :j
Dentist this morning, so face feels rather 'interfered with' and I've been feeling a bit sorry for myselfOff to curl up on the sofa with Kojak in a bit
Hope you're all good xx

Those boots look good! Have you had anything from those people before? Curious to know what they're like, but with my ridiculously sensitive (stroppy) feet combined with the wide calves issue I'm reluctant to order anything online.
You'll have to let me know what they're like once you've got them.
