I'm so glad you enjoyed the Running with Wolves thing. I know I loved it but it's always a bit nerve wracking when you recommend something to someone else.
Glad you've temp solved your blog issue. It's always nice when the "new post" email pops into my inbox
Well done on the plastering. Hope the real plasterer is impressed by your bitsGoals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -
Thanks starnac
Can't imagine for a second the plasterer will be impressed :rotfl: my main aim is that he won't say 'goodness, who on earth did that mess?!' :rotfl: best case is that he just doesn't notice it at all!! :rotfl: I'm sure he'll be too polite to say anything0 -
It will be so rewarding when you see the plasterer complete everything you have worked so hard to get ready. One home improvement down and you can check that off your list.:)Overprepare, then go with the flow.

Indeed Mila - it's a very big list!
:rotfl: :rotfl:
Mr Cheery is working hard this week removing everything from the bedroom. If it were a normal person's bedroom, this would probably take a couple of hours at most. Sadly our bedroom has been a bit of a storage area for things moved from other parts of the house, and so was entirely full of crap, and since we sleep on a mezzanine, there's quite a lot of floor space
Got to get everything out as the plasterer is bringing scaffolding to do the ceiling, and will also need to stand on the mezzanine (probably with ladders, so we have to take the mattress up and sleep in the attic for a couple of nights)
If I get a call now to say he can't come on Monday I shall be Most Displeased... :rotfl:
Anyway, today is the 18th, which (for some unfathomable reason) means PAYDAY :j :j Off to do some YNAB/bank fiddling and will report back0 -
Ok, YNAB nicely sorted :j :j
Goodness me I LOVE being mortgage free(not that the mortgage was ever *mine* of course
) Much as I want to move house I'm becoming more and more reluctant to take on another mortgage now I can see what the bank balance does all by itself without one
Anyway, none of that - we *are* moving house (one day) and that will likely entail a mortgage, which I will then work to pay off as soon as humanly possible
Some things...
£162.52 in car maintenance (isn't it ridiculous that we have such specific amounts in these categories?? :rotfl: )
£848.55 in home maintenance - plasterer will use up £750 of that this month
£120 in dentist (for some reason this pleases me immenselyBoth of us have quite rubbish teeth
and the thought of having enough in there if one of us (hopefully not!) needs a crown is most jolly
)
£50 car replacement (Only had ours 18 months (although it's actually 13 years old) so I just bung £10 a month in there while it's low priority and hope we won't need it any time soon!)
£225 No quibble - will be used for diesel this month I think(not all of it!!)
£378 holidays - again, still no plans, may end up using for house
In other pleasing news - we got £2.72 (annual) interest in the savings account this month :money: :rotfl: :rotfl: Clearly not the best interest rate :rotfl: :rotfl:
Still, Moving House fund now has £4247.72 in it
I've split it into categories and am funding them one at a time, starting with the smallest (ish). Now have all these completely funded (although I recognise some of them will vary, I've gone with the higher side of Martin's rough estimates)
- land registry fee
- removal lorry (Mr Cheery still insisting we're doing this ourselves, I'm still insisting we're not - I've budgeted in the middle as a compromise :rotfl: )
- conveyancing fee
- valuation fee
- surveys
- after next payday the quoted estate agent fee will be fully funded and we'll have made a start on the mortgage fee :j
Then after that, we start filling the stamp duty pot, which of course is highly variable depending on which house we end up with... Left that one til last!
Going on quite an exciting work trip towards the end of June - involving an aeroplane and everything! Don't do much of that type of travelling (for work or otherwise) so am pretty excited, but also a bit scared cos of the nature of the tripWe were going to combine with a week away for both of us but sadly I don't think we can work it this time
Need to investigate if Mr Cheery wants to come to hang out while I'm working anyway but suspect he won't. We'll see!
Anyway, I promised myself a shower and an early night - neither of which I'm going to get at this rate!0 -
Wow, such a lot going on, Cheery, and very impressive too - I love the idea of filling each pot for the move in sequence, and I really admire you being able to plaster your own walls. Not noticing the plastering is probably the highest compliment *anyone* could give - the walls are sort of supposed to be background, aren't they
Very exciting to be travelling abroad for work! I've done it once, a million years ago, but I used to do quite a few trips in *this* country - everything seems to be about work. Mind you, a hotel abroad will have a pool ... Mr Cheery might turn into a bronzed sun god before your very eyes2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Don't think there's much chance of Mr Cheery turning ito a bronzed sun god KC - I'm going to Norway :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Yep, that's the main thing with all the work we're doing with the house - we"re just trying to make it unnoticeable :rotfl: when we started your eyes were drawn everywhere to holes in walls, ripped carpets, unfinished bits etc. Hopefully when we've finished it'll just look like a normal house :rotfl:
However, the bedroom roof has sprung a leak again  SO vexing. I just want to ring someone and make it go away but sadly we've had 3 different roofers and they've all fixed various bits but it just springs a leak somewhere else!
Right now I think it's just going to be plastered over and hope we can move out before it leaks againdreadful I know but I imagine whoever buys it will want a new roof anyway. Aarrgghh. Bloody houses!
Renewed breadown cover today - £65.95 for at home, replacement car etc. Not bad :money:0 -
I hope you can take advantage of the saunas there. I have never been in a sauna, but I like the idea of sitting around in just a towel and sweating out all those toxins. I think I probably have years and years of toxin buildup...I'd have to go in more than one session!:p:cool:Overprepare, then go with the flow.
[Regina Brett]0 -
Ha Mila, good suggestion
Not sure how I feel about saunas!
My local pool has one at the poolside which I sometimes go in, but I can barely managed five minutes
I'd be fine if I could stick my head out of the top, I just really don't like the way it feels up my nose
:rotfl: :rotfl:

All sounding very industrious here.

Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:
:money:Sleeves up folks.:money:0
