Cheery's buttling diary: tea in one hand, plant pot in the other, running shoes on

Hmm.
How Not To Plaster, episode 587:
Slap the PVA/water mix on the wall, then put the tub (still with some PVA in) on the stairs while you mix the plaster.
Get half your first plaster coat on the wall (time ticking as the plaster starts to set in the bucket and you have to get it on the wall asap) - and turn round and knock the pot of PVA/water all down the stairs carpet.
 :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
When I finish this, I'm going to write 'How to plaster like a complete idiot' guide:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Oh no!! Hope it didn't ruin the stairs carpet too!!
Yay to the Running with Wolves event this Saturday. Let me know how you find it. Also yay to parkrun t shirt coming so quickly. They must be on top of their backlog now.Goals for FebruaryDeclutter 2/50Money Made £0/£200Overpayments £0/£2000 -
I think they are indeed on top of the backlog, although they were waiting for a shipment when I first tried to claim it and I had to wait a couple of weeks - seem to have fulfilled everyone waiting though now :j

Hello :hello:
Goodness knows where I've been these last few days  all over the place I think!! Two work conferences (one of which I presented at), an away day, a trip to York for an advisory group (which I presented at), also a family trip (collecting dad, taking him to see nan in the care home, taking him back home, driving to sister's, doing a 12.5 mile bike ride, driving to mums for tea, then driving to forest to run with wolves for 3 hours then spending 2 hours driving to finally get home at 1am - all in the same day!) Then the next day there was a trip to Hull to visit Mr Cheery"s new great-nephew
Phew! :rotfl: :rotfl:
Today has been flute choir, then I"ve spent all afternoon trying to plaster one wall on the stairs - bloody thing  :rotfl: Each time I plaster something I learn a whole new set of things that can go wrong :rotfl: at least I didn't drop watered down PVA all down the stairs this time though!! :rotfl: Just waiting til Mr Cheery goes out to do second coat - plastering on the stairs with more than one person in the house is a giant pain in the backside!
Running with wolves was ACE so thank you SO much Starnac for suggesting itWe had a GREAT time - so scared at the beginning but actually I'd eaten so much thatvday I had such indigestion, and we"d already cycled over 12 miles so my main concern was just keeping up :rotfl: Utterly spellbinding to be running round the woods in the dark, the litle interludes with fire etc, hot chocolate at the trig point overlooking the city, then turning into a wolf and running howling through the mist
:rotfl: Loved it
Got a giant list for tonight so will start new post. First is fitting new !!!!in router so I can get wifi on the laptop again - you'll have to excuse spelling mistakes and lack of colours as this is all being done on the phone...0 -
Ok, Mr Cheery's leaving in 10 mins and after that I will do the following (or probably 'a small selection of the following' - let's be realistic...
:rotfl: )
* YNAB (not done for days, in a right old mess!)
* admin/online donation making for al anon group (I'm treasurer for the next month or so)
* RAC cover (renewal is £65 - every year I look but have never found it cheaper for all in, home start, replacement car etc so will just pay up this year)
* car tax - not due til 31st but might as well get it done before i forget
* second coat of plaster on stairs
* clean and put away all plastering paraphenalia (probably take over half an hour so yes it needs a separate list item!)
*fix bloody router (before YNAB and internet things, obviously)
* finish and send off my Mass Observation diary from Thursday
* flylay weekly home blessing :rotfl: bought a new hoover a fortnight ago and it's not even out of the box yet so it's about time
* sort out blog (figure out what I'm going to do about photo storage issue, seems I have a few options but not had headspace to think about them!)
* spend an hour on sadly-neglected diploma
Hmm - quite clearly not ALL of that is going to happen unless I stay up til 4am :rotfl: but I'll make a start at least!0 -
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Loving my overambitious earlier self:rotfl: Three hours later I've only just finished the plastering, and I've literally been doing it the whole time :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: And also it looks quite crap and might need an extra coat :rotfl: :rotfl:
Must remember I'm not yet a professional plasterer and a wall takes me about 6 hours in total, and that doesn't even include tidying up  :rotfl: Doesn't help it being on the stairs, always awkward! :rotfl:
Still, it's done (at least for tonight...). Not going to get the hoover out of the box now but I might set the timer for 15 mins and clear as much plastering crap as I can, and then another 15 mins to clear as much of the kitchen as I can, then sit with the laptop in front of Eurovision and see how many other things I can get ticked off.... :rotfl:0 -
Ok, a tiny bit of progress :rotfl: :rotfl:
[STRIKE]* YNAB (not done for days, in a right old mess!)[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]* admin/online donation making for al anon group (I'm treasurer for the next month or so)[/STRIKE]
* RAC cover (renewal is £65 - every year I look but have never found it cheaper for all in, home start, replacement car etc so will just pay up this year) No internet address given, so called the number. Office shut but it gave me a web address - went to it, entered all details from letter, and it told me it can't find the policy... Bloody thing. Will ring on Monday, not due til 20th anyway
[STRIKE]* car tax - not due til 31st but might as well get it done before i forget[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]* second coat of plaster on stairs[/STRIKE]
[STRIKE]* clean and put away all plastering paraphenalia (probably take over half an hour so yes it needs a separate list item!)[/STRIKE]
*fix bloody router (before YNAB and internet things, obviously) - old one started working again so thank goodness I don't have to do this today :rotfl:
[STRIKE]* finish and send off my Mass Observation diary from Thursday[/STRIKE]
* flylay weekly home blessing bought a new hoover a fortnight ago and it's not even out of the box yet so it's about time - er, noGot too late after plastering, but I did clean and brush the kitchen :rotfl:
* sort out blog (figure out what I'm going to do about photo storage issue, seems I have a few options but not had headspace to think about them!)
* spend an hour on sadly-neglected diploma - er, no, but I did reply to a 'peer support' email which took about 5 minutes :rotfl:
Better than it could have been actually! :rotfl:
Mr Cheery should be home soon - hoping he brings a small treat: D
0 -
Well Mr Cheery did indeed bring a small treat :j :j
Have now sorted out blog so I can stay where I am, thanks for the advice TDQ :j what else have I done from that list? Oh! Got the new hoover out of the box - the suction is SO strong I could barely push it across the floor! :rotfl: something's gone wrong witb the old one and it has limited suction while also making unbrlearable high pitched noise but we're keeping it for now to hoover up DIY related crap so we don't break the new one straight away...
Nowt else to report. Worked at a friend's hose today which was nicegot a meeting in a cafe first thing tomorrow :j and have discovered I can atone for all my plastering mishaps with sandpaper :j works miracles :rotfl:
Real plasterer coming on Monday so trying to make the bits I've done look not completely inconpetent:rotfl: :rotfl:
