Aw, thanks Pippi, what a good idea! :j :j I do occasionally ponder that, but I'm never sure cos things often take quite a bit of work and don't bring in much. but I do enjoy sewing and knitting so a little bit of an income from a cheery hobby probably wouldn't go amiss :j :j Will investigate :)

What are you planning on Starnac?

Made it to work eventually... :o

I want to do a few craft fairs in the lead up to Christmas. To be honest I've never made loads at craft fairs but I enjoy the experience and it's nice to get out and meet people.

If you didn't want to do that then how about selling a few bits on one of the craft selling sites like Etsy, Folksy etc. Or make a few bits and have virtual party plan type party on FB. I see a lot of those happening at the moment.

You could always get together with other crafty friends and hold an actual party plan type party (I don't know what they are called sorry) or find a local group who hold christmas fairs to raise money like WI, local churches/schools. They usually hire tables for a small amount (£10ish) and you'll get guaranteed footfall at those.

Plus if it's just a small "extra" income you are looking for then there's no pressure to make loads

Ooh, good ideas there Starnac! :j :j I think I might not be brave enough to do it in person :o:o:o But we actually have a WI country market thingy just down the road every week and I've often thought of that... (Mr Cheery keeps suggesting we make scones for them  but they do a kitchen inspection if you make food and we'd never pass!!  :rotfl: )

But they don't inspect for non-food stuff, thank goodness :rotfl:

Pottered round and cleaned the kitchen this evening :j :j You might not notice if you popped in :rotfl: but the washing up is done and microwave is clean and floor is mopped :j :j

Got to pottering with food, and have made some cabbage kind-of-bahgis, kind of dahl type stuff, and spelt wraps :j :j Well, I've not actually started the spelt wraps yet... :rotfl: but they're dead quick :D

Best get them on the go and I'll be back in a bit :D Got YNAB to do and other stuff to report although can't remember what right now... :rotfl:

    Mmmmmmmmm! :j :j tea was ACE! :j :j

I often don't make time to cook properly these days, just whizzing a few bits round in a pan and stuffing it in with some pasta or rice :o

    But today...

Cabbage bahgis (just how do you spell that?! :rotfl: ) - just thinly sliced cabbage and onion, mixed with a bit of chick pea flour (but I would have used plain if I didn't have any), salt, and some spices, and an egg to stick it together. Meant to be deep fried but I wanged them in the oven til they went brown and crunchy :D

dahl - just boiled lentils in water with a bay leaf (but only cos someone gave me some last week :rotfl: ), fried onion and garlic and added once boiled

wraps - a vague approximation of this recipe except I realised once I'd decided to make them that I only had about a tablespoon of spelt flour :rotfl: so just topped up with plain :j and used sesame oil instead of olive (cos Mr Cheery hates it, and I bought 3 large bottles from AF years ago so I have to sneak it into things when he's not here to smell it :rotfl: )

Gorgeously savoury and I'm trying not to stuff my face as it's not too far off bed time :rotfl:
  • That lot sounds lush cheery. And well done on the kitchen floor. Mine as my granny would say, would make a nice soup from the contents of it.

    (the floor)

I think you should investigate some options for doing a bit of art inspired craft stuff.

Who knows maybe the new kitchen will be more than pucker for scones.
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.

It's still going to have me as chief cleaner Pippi so possibly not :o:o :rotfl: :rotfl: :D

Working at home today :j :j Not long crawled out of bed :o

Aside from work, today I also want to

    - go for a run (lunchtime?)
    - put washing on
    - put previous washing away :o
    - hoover bathroom
    - hoover bedroom - there's all kinds of crap and clothes round the edges but the state of the carpet is really depressing so I'm just going to hoover the middle and worry about tidying up later :o :rotfl:

Have a good one folks, off to check the banks :j

Long time lurker popping my nose in - craft stuff - get yourself a FB page set up, lots of photos and clear pricing and get your friends to share it about for you - you'll be amazed just how many sales you can make through there.

Also do look at E tsy - it's very easy to use and will give you a wider market.

Most craft fairs round this way are booked up months and months in advance but always worth a try.

I took the plunge and started with a FB page 2 years ago and it's just sort of grown and grown.....give it a go!

    (wanders back off to lurkdom)

Pooky has good advice there actually. I have a crafty FB page too and I just basically upload things as and when I have time, meaning that I'm not swamped with orders all the time. When I'm short of time I don't post things on the page. It can be a bit of "out of sight out of mind" So people don't think to order/buy stuff if I'm not posting regularly

:hello: Hi Pooky :) Don't go back into lurkdom, stay out and play! :D What good and cheerful advice :D FB and Etsy do sound like the way to go! :j :j And Starnac, sounds good that you can just bung stuff on it when it's ready :j Like the idea of not being bound to it :D

Of course, it's also highly likely that I won't get round to any of it at all :rotfl: I know what I'm like for making too many plans and we're meant to be focusing on the HOUSE of course - HOUSE HOUSE HOUSE HOUSE HOUSE :rotfl: :rotfl:

Not heard back about the job yet :( Starting to fear my application has gone to the shredder... Not giving up hope just yet, but interviews are a week on Monday so if I don't hear in the next few days, I'll assume I haven't got one... Probably hold out some lingering hope til Wednesday but that's it... Fingers crossed...

Been roaming round the jobs sites but there's nowt else out there that I'm willing to leave this job for :p so looks like I'm staying where I am for now!

    :hello:

    Evening all :)

Lovely happy day here :) Lots of walking to a friend's house, nice cup of tea and was there when her baby took her first steps :j Then walked to the garage, picked up the car (another £220 but the brakes are rather more vigorous than they were last week  ), then went to the outdoor swimming pool with another pal :D LOVE it in there :D We even did some swimming :rotfl:

Not too bad spending wise, £6 at the swimming pool, and £2.90 in the cafe (but we did take our own lunch!). Going to a pal's house for tea so no more spending now :j

    Hope you're all good :)

Still no job news :( Starting to give up now...
