OK Christmas is well and truly now over and out of the way, and I think we've tippy toed around enough now, so let's start the debate as it doesn't seem that anyone else is going to.
Could I please ask before we start that we all remain civil and polite, and have no name calling or nastiness. I will pm Glad and MSE Andrea and ask how they want this debate to be managed.
I'd like to thank jambodaveprince for stepping in at short notice and managing the mag dailies since my thread got closed down, but we need to get this sorted out one way or another as it's so much more work for him and others.
Originally mag dailies used to get posted on the main forum, then whoever posted them also put a link in Daily Sticky, and Daily Sticky then updated to their front page. As Daily Sticky was struggling at the time I suggested to Glad (who was running them at that time) about making a thread like Puzzler ones etc where there is one thread and the new links are just added to the end of that and updated to the front page of that thread (and not posted as separate comps on main board, and link not added to Daily Sticky). We did do a poll at one stage and it was voted that most people preferred it this way, and we eventually got it stickied too.

I really like how the mag dailies are being posted now. People who are not aware of the sub-forums will have a chance to see the mag dailies and the people who are aware of the mag dailies thread can see a lovely organized list of what mag dailies are available.0

I liked how the mag dailies were organised before Christmas - when they had their own thread and were not posted on the main board. I thought it ran smoothly, was only bumped if something important cropped up (like a change of answer) and the posters, including you Cornish pasty, did a fabulous job! My vote - bring back the mags daily thread !:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0

I have no problem with mag dailies being on the main board in some form, and have no views on the form as I just skip them and use the thread.
What I would very much like is the mags thread to return to direct links to the comps from the first posts where the comps are listed by mag as used to be in Cornish's thread. This would save a huge amount of time for those of us that use the thread every day and I really can't see a downside.0 -
Personally I am ok with either way but i do think that the fairest way to decide would be by way of an anonymous vote so that those who for whatever reason do not wish to actually make a comment on the matter can be included in the decision.0

I agree with rugmaker about the links in the mag daily thread. It would make it a lot quicker and easier for people who enter via the mag daily thread.
I do, however, still believe that the mag dailies should be posted on the main competition board as they are competitions after all. I bookmark the mag dailies from the posts on the main board and I believe that most people, especially new people, will not find the mag dailies very easily unless they are posted in the main board.0 -
could we not pop a poll on the top Cornish pasty?:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0

I liked how they were organised before Christmas, purely for the selfish reason that it made it alot easier for me with the M.E.
At the moment I go to the mag sites each day and enter from there, as that's easier than going through all the separate threads on MSE. If I do win something then I'll search for the prize on MSE and thank the OP, but at the moment entering via the website is just the easiest way for me.2019 Wins

I preferred it how it was... I find it quite annoying now they on the main forum when I am doing normal comps and they all mingled in when I am entering them from a list myself... I have seen people say its fairier for the people that 'arnt aware of the sub forums' but surely everyone now IS aware of the sub forums simply from this debate that has been popping up all the time since it changed... if people cannot even be bothered to go to a dedicated thread for them to enter them then that's their lookout imo! this new way is making far more work for the people who post them and is pandering to the lazy! :cool:April 2014: A CAR!!!!!! :j 60th Anniversary Edition of Playboy mag signed by Hugh Hefner/Family pass to Twinlakes Family Theme Park/Rio 2 Goodies/£15 Promod Voucher/Nivea Sensitive Prize pack/John Frieda Cosmetic bag and bits/Tickets to New Kids On The Block + Meet and Greet0

I personally liked Cornish's thread that had been made a sticky on the main board, with a direct link to each competition.
I don't have an issue with them individually posted on the main board, but i liked having direct links all in one place.
It does seem like a lot of work to post them and it's something i certainly would not be able to commit to. Well done to Jambo and Firefly (apologies if i have missed anyone!)0
