  • Another one outnumbered here - 3 sons and the OH. I'm glad I had all boys as I think they're generally easier to bring up than girls. They are still revolting at times though :rotfl:

I thought I might be stirring up a bit of denial posting.
It was a it of a broad generalisation I agree but based on my experience!

Well yes, you will be stirring :D I agree with poet it's not like that at all, I reckon it's even more girly as you are outnumbered;)

I am glad I am not the only one indulging my pink fetish, which fortunately is my favourite colour, and it does make it easy to see what's mine and what's not. DH says it makes 'please fetch my pink bag' a bit ambiguous. I always know which bag I want so I think he's just being difficult.

The boys are reasonably house trained and only one of them smelt really bad, he's better now he's older. No, they don't swear in front of me, but then nor does their dad and I made it clear that it wasn't acceptable when anything did slip out. I always said it was a sign of a limited vocabulary.

What really drove me demented was the pedantry treated as an art form!

By that I mean they tend to dress in a less "girly" way and tend not to bother som much with hair and makeup. I think a daughter can help keep a mum interested in fashion and on the right lines.

The right lines? Are you saying 'girly' is right and tomboy wrong? Meh!

Och, it's just a. Are of each to their own I suppose. Perhaps my friends whom I consider to have lost their way a bit consider me a style free zone,
Gawk this is awful , I brought it on myself. I'm not actually such a judgemental !!!!! as I sound, honestly!

  • I've tried to keep my femininity and get them to consider things from a woman's perspective. I still can't get them to appreciate cushions and other decorative items though!

I grew up with a younger sister, Mum and Dad. My Dad was raised as an only child and was close to his Mum and was always clean and tidy, the worst thing he ever did was cough, although he didnt do domestic stuff, he was always doing some sort of repair to the house so you couldn't call him lazy
Snap! And one son even with an equal balance in the household (me, husband, son, daughter) has been a shock to the system!

I find my friend with 3 sons and who grew up with a brother can cope better with boys falling out than I can (in contrast she struggles with the pettiness of what girls say to each other).
  • I'm outnumbered 2-1 at the moment (OH and 8 year old son) and soon to be 3-1 (baby boy due in early May).

Doesn't make much of a difference at the moment, really.

I was outnumbered 3-1 with hubby and boys, in answer to the question 'how do you cope?'....... We then had a little girl. :rotfl:

The boys room is smellier and messier, and DD is harder work in other ways but I get to do traditional girly things as well and there is Ballet and Barbie in my life now instead of just Cars and Lego!:D:j

DS1 isn't a horrible teenager though, and it's easy enough to chuck some deodorant at him or remind him each night it's time for a shower. I am at the end of my tether trying to stop the 8 year old being messy though.....dunno how he manages it so quickly, the room can be immaculate then suddenly it looks like he's set off a bomb in the lego box!

I feel more sorry for my brother and dad sharing a house with 4 females

We used to dress my brother up in princess dresses and high heels :rotfl:

I think my parents would tell you us girls were far much harder work than my brother. My sisters are terrible at cleaning up after themselves where as my brother is much more helpful around the house
