Does anyone know how to opt out of DCC on the new design of the website?
Booking flights in euros with a GBP card, on one occasion I was charged correctly in euros
but on another occasion I was charged in GBP without any obvious choice being given before the transaction was completed
thanks

Once you choose the card or perhaps even enter the details, there should be a link written 'More information'.0

Thanks. I can't find it though on the new design of the website
Anyone else been able to?0 -
After you have typed in your card number an extra line of text will appear with the "More Information" link in it.
Clicking on that will display the area where you can change to your home currency.0 -
Yes that is the way it worked previously and it makes some kind of sense since Ryanair doesn't know if DCC is possible until it has identified your card home currency, then under the rules of its merchant agreements through Mastercard and VISA Ryanair must then offer you some kind of choice in the matter. After you have typed in your card number an extra line of text will appear with the "More Information" link in it.

No doubt it still makes EUR000s per week via DCC else it would have given it up years ago. I cannot understand why DCC was ever permitted in any language or legal jurisdiction. It is a clearly an unfair commercial practice - nothing more or less than a trick or a sleight of hand. From the late great Tommy Cooper: "He said 'I'm going to chop off the bottom of one of your trouser legs and put it in a library.' I thought 'That's a turn-up for the books.' "0 -
Just thought I'd report I got caught again by this a couple of weeks ago - I asked my son to add a bag for me and check me in. He has a card on my Metrobank account (no FOREX charges for European transactions), but he is not a seasoned Ryanair traveller.
I wasn't in "check everything / it's a minefield" mode when I made the request
He blundered straight into Ryanair's DCC trap costing me around 6% extra I think.
I wish Ryanair would stop this. They must have stolen millions of pounds over the years this way ...From the late great Tommy Cooper: "He said 'I'm going to chop off the bottom of one of your trouser legs and put it in a library.' I thought 'That's a turn-up for the books.' "0 -
Instead of paying in euros | pay in sterling, this is how I do it and it does work:-
Open 2 ryanair windows, in the first window (this is just an example) do a flight from Tenerife to Manchester, and enter dates and go on to the page where it shows your week view, now in your second window, enter Manchester to Tenerife and enter dates, and go on to the page where it shows your week view, now go back to your first window and press continue, the price on the next page should be shown in pounds. You just have to double check dates all way through the process.0 -

If you know what you're doing and are very careful and technically minded, then it seems that green1960 has a good idea and it's not necessarily a recipe for disaster.budgetflyer wrote: »This is a recipe for disaster.
The Ryanair graveyard is full of "victims" who screwed up trying to outwit Ryanair with 2 windows open.0 -
I have done this successfully on a recent trip back from Tenerife, and as I say you must check windows for dates on each and every screen. I tried it again as I was describing the method and it worked perfectly. I have summarised this on another forum, and somebody tried it out and got as far as the payment page and it worked.
By paying in euros with my bank you have to use the bank's rate plus a £1.50 exchange charge.
Thought it was worth sharing, but it is up to you whether you use it0 -
The workaround has been getting used for years now. Here's a thread which mentioned it from 2011:
