Opting out of dynamic currency conversion, Ryanair

  • There is an obvious fraud going on here: while the new website does allow you to opt out of DCC (it is hidden and hard to find, but it is there), it doesn't actually do it. So, on 2 occasions so far, even though I explicitly unticked the box and opted out of DCC, they still applied it and as a result overcharged me by several dollars in each occasion!

I wrote to them and got a BS reply that they sympathize with me but that this is their policy.

I am considering some sort of legal class action against them; has anyone else experienced the same? What is the best way to get together and file a lawsuit against Ryanair for fraud?

I used to book outgoing and return flight separately, paying for the flights individually as ryanair used the exchange rate of £1=€1. However, I tried this again the other day and found the euro price is now actually reflects reality - so a £90 flight was over €115 or so. Only the additional fees haven't change - for example extra leg room seats were £10 or €10 - however I didn't consider that enough of a discount not to book the flights together as a proper return journey. So for me the issue that you can't opt out of their conversion rate any more doesn't matter - I shouldn't hit it.
