February’s 2014 BR Club

I think I will be joining the March BR Club!!

Gone from DMP for over 2 years, to an IVA for 3 years and with continual drop in income crunch time has arrived as I cannot cope anymore with debts.

Thought long and hard about this and explored my options, pros and cons etc. and had some great advice from CAB, National Debtline, my IP and a specialist BR solicitor and all points to me petitioning my own bankruptcy.

Was terrified (still am) of BR and stigma and all that and feel I have done everything to maintain previous debt plans and not get to this point. Felt like BR was "throwing in the towel" but have now shifted more to the "fresh start in life" view on BR.

Anyway I will be back soon no doubt once I have sorted the paperwork and been into court.

I am hoping to have a court date this month.
I am absolutely petrified, ashamed and anxious about the whole thing but I have no other option and have had advice.
Dreading going to court and the interview with OR but reading everyones posts is making me feel a little better

Hi Coffeebean,

Please don't get yourself all stressed about the court and the OR, I know it's hard as i did as well but it really is not as bad as you think it will be.

At court be prepared to sit around waiting, the actual process takes about 5min interview with the court clerk as they check your forms and take your money and then seeing the judge lasted about 2 mins that was it the rest was waiting around.

Make sure your paperwork is correct use the links on this forum to see the examples on how to fill the forms out and make sure you put everything on the big form such as all your assets, debts, income and outgoings.

As for the OR just don't hide anything and answer their questions, they don't shout at you and tell you off they are just trying to establish why you went bankrupt.

Don't be ashamed of going BR you would probably be suprised how many people have been in your area.

This club is for everyone who has gone or going through the process of Bankruptcy during February 2014. So please feel free to join and post.

Pop your name on here, the date that you went/are going Bankrupt. Then just keep everyone in the club updated throughout the next year about your BR journey. That way you can all stick together, compare notes and be there to support each other during the different stages of your Bankruptcies.
