Not even worth resonding.0 -
I am sure the OP would have move the sofa had they asked on a viewing. It's not exactly nailed down...Thinking critically since 1996....0

Irrespective of whether the sofa was infront was the OP supposed to empty all their belongings and furniture to allow for the viewing, otherwise the claims you could put in would be endless. Their claim is nonsense. An opinion is just that..... An opinion0

Thanks for your replies.
They moved into our old house on Monday, so everything has been finalised. Everyarea of house was made available for them to inspect if they wished.. But theynever asked. They viewed on 2 occasions. It really never ever crossed my mindthat it was ever an issue; I have been in the house for 7 years without everthinking about it. It’s where our sofa was and the previous owner sofa was, it’svery likely that is where theirs will be. There are no gaps around it, it isnot hazardous. It’s just they wish to have them removed, so as far as I amconcerned they can pay for it.
My solicitor has emailed me with their 'claim' and I have responded statingI will not being paying for it as I do not think I am liable for homeimprovements once they have purchased the property.
I hope they have read the thread!!

I didn't say it wasn't, please read my post in context with the quoted text.

Ridiculous.
Ignore them.
When I moved into my house last April there were loads of silly things like this I hadn't noticed. For example, when they had installed the central heating system, some of the pipe work went across the front of a plug socket, making the socket unusable. I didn't notice as there was a piece of furniture in front of it. Did I claim? No. I paid an electrician to come and move the socket 6 inches further up the wall for me. Cost me £25.
They need to get a life........0 -

Jeez.
My post was not directed at YOU! Otherwise I would have quoted it!

I bet everyone on here who has bought a house has found at least one annoying problem that the previous owner has lived with. Imagine if we all claimed for these to be sorted out by the previos owner - it would be chaos :rotfl:
They are being stupid.0 -

Jeeze!
It seemed as though you were referring to what I posted with regard to the pipes not being visible as the sofa was hiding them.
