First Rule of Freemasons club:
Do not talk about Freemasons Club
Another example of a comment arising form ignorance.
axomoxia has already given a detailed account of what took place during one of his Lodge meetings. Freemasonry in the UK has numerous websites, a mountain of books have been published on the subject by both masons and non-masons and you can even take tours of the Grand Lodge building in Queen Street.
Yeah...... but we don't talk about it :rotfl:
For those of you that wish to form a negative option of it that is you prerogative but at least do it from a informed standpoint. Don't just repeat the same old tosh you may have heard someone else say about the organisation and accepted as fact.
It often saddens me that so much negative comment is aimed at an organisation that does so much good. In my opinion, in this modern world where moral values and man's desire to offer a helping hand to his fellow man appear to be eroding, Freemasonry is needed more than ever. I am proud to be a member of this organisation.0 -

Well said! my father's lodge are currently raising money to buy a hugely expensive peice of medical equipment for a hospital, without the that input it would take years to raise the money to pay for it so I cant understand some of the negative responses on here
To the person who mentioned about being a Lewis, its not unique to Scotland as my brother is one and based in the south of england, he has a special badge apparently, lol!0 -
A Lewis as I understand it, is an enitiate who's Father is a mason.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0

Maybe it is just the joining at 18 then? The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

Not sure about the rules relating to joining at 18 if you are to be a Lewis but Ariba was right, my Brother joined as our Father's initiate so is now known in his lodge as a Lewis and was given a badge he was in his late 20's when he joined0
