Milk ads "Watch out watch out, there's a Humphrey about"

Humphreys!!! I was so scared of them. All you saw was a long red and white straw but, for me, it was the stuff of nightmares! In my defence, I was only four:o I was given a Humphrey T-towel for Christmas (not sure if it was a crap pressie for a four year old or my relative was just a cruel s*d - I suspect the latter!) and I had to hide it in my underwear drawer as I was so scared of it!

OOPs just remembered the Gold Blend coffee ad, that was also a saga of a couple who met when one of them borrowed a jar from the other, their neighbour. It ran through their romance and ended when they got married.

I adore San Pellegrino Limonata which I now buy in bulk from Amazon

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sanpellegrino-Limonata-Cans-Pack-Total/dp/B008IDJPTI/ref=sr_1_3?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1390895505&sr=1-3&keywords=San+Pellegrino
Limonata is my favourite Soft drink and it beats the hell of lesser counterparts like 7up which I used to like till it affected my teeth.
I would rather have a little of a good thing than lots of an inferior cheap product.

Romantica - an Ice Cream, Meringue and Fresh Cream dessert - only seem to have disappeared around 15yrs ago

These were our favourite "special" dessert. We could only get them in our local petrol station (bizarrely) and then around 5-6yrs ago Asda had them in stock for a very short time but they didnt taste the same (although it was still very nice).

Do you remember if you bought a light bulb in Woollies they always tested it first before selling it to you?

    Candlelight x

The hardware shop I go to still does this, a lady who was buying bulbs there commented that Woolies used to do it too.
  • My granddad used to like Pan Yan and I miss it too . Does anyone remember Scribona cakes ? I'm Newcastle area and this would be late 50's -1960's ? Don't know if they were a local company or not . My friend's dad worked for them and there were always cakes and jam tarts when I visited . I was a bit envious !
  • I miss Lord Toffingham ice lollies. They had a toffee centre covered in icecream - lovely! Funny Feet ice lollies were good too.

I don't miss Vesta curries in a packet or Findus Crispy Pancakes though, ugh!

Anyone else remember Houseparty on the TV? I loved it. I seem to remember a yoga programme too. The yoga programme also released a record so you could practice although you'd have to get up between poses to flip the disc!

Love this thread, so many 60/70s memories.

I remember Pan Yan pickle - much nicer than Branston! Pan Yan was more mellow, more complex flavours and was gorgeous with cheese!

anyone remember the loose 'Sherbet' Sweet shops used to sell from a huge jar? it came in rainbow colours and was the texture of granulated sugar (it probably was, and we ate it by the 2oz worth)?

my dad had a passion for 'Tiger Nuts' and real liquorice roots - didn't get that was like eating twigs - actually the tiger nuts were too!
  • Brannigans crisps, mmm, would lick the packet out, in secret of course...

I remember that loose sweets, from a jar, sometimes tasted of tobacco, after being touched by the owner's hand.

We used buy 2oz of sweets on the way back to school in the afternoon. A quarter of sweets was an absolute treat, on rate occasions!

Lord Toffinghqm! Used to love them, I haven't thought about them in years.

I must have been odd, because I really liked the Findus Crispy Pancakes. I'm about the only person who liked them!

I remember the yoga programme, but I was into Graham Kerr, the Galloping Gourmet.
